Power users are an interesting bunch. For starters, you probably already know about a VPN service, which can protect your internet connection and give you access to a different IP address. The only question you might have is which one—out of dozens and dozens of VPN companies—actually provides the most powerful features and works the fastest for downloads and streams.

That’s why we handpicked the VPN providers on this list. They are not just some of the best products in the field with extra features and a high rating (the three we picked are all rated at 4.5 or 5 stars), but they also have exceptional power. They have the highest number of servers we’ve found and run quickly for all internet activity—including website visits, downloads, streaming, file back-ups, gaming, and just about anything else you might access online. And while they aren’t free VPN options, these VPN providers are the cream of the crop, the ones that power users will love.

Why do power users need a VPN?

A power user is not someone who would ever take security lightly. They probably already use a password manager and stick to very complex passwords. They would rarely, if ever, visit a website that is known for distributing malware. They tend to back up important files to the cloud using a secure portal. And, honestly, they don’t really need any help figuring out how to use apps, services, and websites. Yet, finding a VPN client is a good fit for power users who know how to avoid problems because it adds another layer of online privacy, and even power users can be targets for criminals and hackers. Adding VPN technology to your gadgets could make all the difference for keeping a secure connection.

Always online

In fact, power users might be a primary target. They tend to make the most of their internet connection. They might have multiple devices running at the same time. A laptop off in the corner downloading movie files, a smart television that’s streaming 4K films all evening. Because they seem to maintain a persistent connection (getting every penny’s worth of that cable modem subscription), security is even more important.

Behind the scenes

Power users are always online, but that doesn’t mean they are ever vigilant. When the attacks come (and they will if you are online all day using multiple devices), you can install a VPN on your router and protect your connection even when you are not paying full attention to that Wi-Fi signal in your garage or when someone else in the house is not quite as proficient with technology—they’ll even protect you on public Wi-Fi. A VPN service provider is the perfect match for those who are pushing boundaries and even visiting websites on the fringe of the internet.

Final thoughts

A VPN protects a power user from online attacks since these suers are online more than the rest of us. These products are fast and offer a high number of VPN servers.

  • CyberGhost: The highest number of servers we’ve found.
  • NordVPN: A well-known VPN with a polished interface.
  • Hotspot Shield: A fast and reliable VPN that works for advanced users.
