Minnesota ranks #38 nationally for average internet speeds, with 57.78% fiber and 72.73% cable availability, but there’s a significant push to improve broadband access across the state.
In urban areas like Minneapolis and Saint Paul, major providers such as Xfinity, CenturyLink (Quantum Fiber), and Spectrum lead the way in offering high-speed broadband. Midco and Mediacom serve both urban and rural areas with speeds up to 1 Gbps, while Frontier Communications is expanding fiber access with speeds reaching 7 Gbps in select regions.
Rural areas in Northern and Western Minnesota continue to see improvements in connectivity, driven by local cooperatives and municipal networks. State initiatives like the Broadband Grant Program and community-driven projects are helping close the digital divide across the state.
