Michigan as a whole pays about average prices for below average internet speeds. With 110 internet providers to choose from, it’s worth shopping around for a better deal or a more reliable connection.
Michigan ranks #31 nationally for average internet speeds, and efforts are being made to improve that with 51.38% of the state having access to fiber and 86.79% covered by cable broadband. While major metro areas like Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor have strong broadband networks, rural communities remain a focus for fiber expansion.
To help bridge connectivity gaps, an $11 million investment is bringing high-speed internet improvements between Grand Rapids and Lansing. Meanwhile, ISPs like AT&T are making significant investments to expand broadband access statewide, ensuring more Michiganders stay connected.
