If price isn’t a concern for you when it comes to a VPN app, CyberGhost VPN might be an ideal match. At $12.99 a month, it’s slightly more expensive than NordVPN and about the same as ExpressVPN, two of the more powerful and well-designed clients we’ve found.

Now, CyberGhost is currently offering a very compelling 18-month plan that works out to $3.15 per month, but if you decide to go with the monthly option, you’ll want to evaluate whether it’s worth the higher ticket price. With the higher cost, you will find a few major advantages, including the ability to connect to one of 6,300 servers worldwide. CyberGhost VPN also lets you connect with up to seven devices at once.

Our CyberGhost review tackles a few scenarios. We tested the VPN server for a stable connection, making sure the connection speed stayed the same or only slightly slower. We used the iOS app and the Android app. We also put the Windows client through the paces and tested the encryption to make sure it works for security purposes (and didn't cause any issues).

We evaluated the CyberGhost website, used the automatic kill switch feature, and even tried the CyberGhost chat support. Beyond that, we tested a streaming server for Netflix and BBC iPlayer issues, looked for a DNS leak, and tried other security features to make sure the VPN app works as expected. We tried out the VPN service using multiple server location settings as well.

Tons of servers

You can access more servers than any other VPN client (6,300).

CyberGhost VPN prices and plans

CyberGhost VPN has one of the best deals right now that we’ve found.

In terms of pricing, it’s a tale of two extremes. On the one hand, the monthly plan is actually more expensive than the most powerful VPN clients we’ve found. It’s $12.99 per month, which is a few dollars more than most VPN clients.

However, if you choose to register for the 18-month plan, it works out to only $3.15 per month which is far cheaper than most of the powerhouses, including ExpressVPN.

CyberGhost VPN: Access from seven devices

CyberGhost VPN one-ups the competition.

Many VPN clients these days let you connect with up to five devices or sometimes six. CyberGhost VPN goes a step further by allowing up to seven devices, so that beats ExpressVPN and others by a slim margin.

It means if you happen to own a couple of laptops and smartphones, but your family also wants to connect using your account, it's perfectly fine. And, you can trust that if you buy a new device you will have “open spots” for that gadget to connect as well.

CyberGhost VPN: Massive number of servers

CyberGhost VPN lets you connect to one of 6,300 servers.

With 6,300 servers available, CyberGhost VPN provides extreme flexibility. No matter where you travel or how you want to use the VPN for your security needs, there will likely always be a connection available. ExpressVPN lets you connect to just over 3,000 servers worldwide, and NordVPN provides 5,300 connections. CyberGhost is the highest number of servers we’ve found.

CyberGhost VPN: Low-cost 18-month plan

A low price if you choose to register for the 18-month plan.

Paying $56.70 for 18 months (or $3.15 per month) is quite an attractive option, especially given the high number of servers available for connection and the ability to utilize the VPN on up to seven devices all at once. It also helps mitigate the fact that CyberGhost VPN is actually one of the more expensive VPN clients. It’s not so bad with the 18-month plan.

Our pick: The best CyberGhost VPN plan

Best: 18 months

Who it’s best for: Cost-conscious consumers looking for a great deal. Why we recommend it: One of the lowest prices we’ve seen for a VPN.
