But remember, not all 4K TVs are created equal. They’re equipped with different screen technology, interfaces, and sound features—and the pricing reflects what you get.

We built a list of 4K TVs ranging from $100 to $2,000 for 43 to 85 inch screen sizes to fit all household personalities and budgets.

What to look for in a 4K TV

The answer to the question of “what’s the best 4K TV on the market” is “It depends.”

There are TVs best for gamers, sports watchers, money savers, families, theater-like experiences, etc. But there are a few aspects a 4K TV should have:

  • Features like Dolby Vision and DTS Studio Sound
  • A built-in assistant, like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant
  • 3–4 HDMI inputs
  • A refresh rate of at least 60 Hz for gaming
  • A fair price for the features it offers

Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS Studio Sound, and Dolby Digital Plus will make the picture on your TV and the sound in your living room immersive and give you a theater experience. The more of these features included with your TV, the better.

A 4K TV without a smart platform assistant is rare, so expect a 4K TV with Amazon Alexa, for example, so that you can find your favorite movie with the sound of your voice.

The HDMI inputs are for connecting your soundbar or gaming consoles. And if you’re a casual gamer, a 60 Hz refresh rate we find with most decently-price 4K TVs will be just fine. But if you’re an avid gamer, you’ll thank yourself for spending a few hundred bucks more for a refresh rate in the 100s.

Ok, now for the price you can use as a guide when out shopping for 4K TVs:

As of today, the average price for a 55-inch 4K TV is about $575. And the average cost for a big 75-inch 4K TV is around $955.

Now, keep in mind that that is the average price. You’ll pay on the higher end of the spectrum if you want better specs.

Some reviewers found the remote difficult to use, upselling you to buy an Amazon Echo, or it stopped working. Most consumers were more comfortable using their former remote and programmed it to this new Samsung TV.

On the other hand, many reviews said the remote was easy to use and simple.

Recap: What is the best 4K TV of 2023?

  • Amazon Fire TV 4-Series 4K UHD TV is a consumer favorite with the highest online reviews. It’s the best 4K TV on our list because its price tag doesn’t break the bank, and it comes with the picture and sound you want from a great 4K TV.
  • Amazon Fire TV Omni Series 4K UHD TV is pricier than the 4-Series because it gives you a hands-free experience and makes you feel like you’re at the movie theater with its 65- and 75-inch TVs. If you’re not in the market for a big-screen TV, we suggest snagging the 43-inch TV for $100.
  • Samsung Crystal AU8000 Series 4K TV is the best 4K TV on this list for sports fans. The Dynamic Crystal feature delivers millions of shades of colors, and the Motion Xcelerator technology minimizes the blur when watching fast-action, always-moving sports.
  • Sony Class BRAVIA XR X90K 4K Google TV is the most expensive option on our list, but the best-performing one. Gamers will really enjoy the fast 120 Hz refresh rate for a clearer picture and less lag while gaming. And sports fans will appreciate this Sony just as much for its real-life depth and detail.
  • Insignia Class F30 Series 4K Fire TV is perfect for families saving money for their next family vacation or a new lake boat. It's also for those who want surround sound audio and parental controls to keep PG-13 or R-rated movies away from their little one's eyes.
  • LG Class UQ7570 Series webOS 4K TV is a great choice for households with many streamers—like two parents and two teenagers. Like streaming services, the webOS smart platform lets each family member create their own account for a personalized experience. A downside is that it doesn’t have a built-in assistant. So, there will be no luxury of voice controls.

Methodology

To find the best 4K TVs, we evaluated these aspects in order:

  1. Consumer reviews and experiences
  2. Specs and technical details
  3. Fair pricing for what it offers.

Here at Reviews.org, we have been writing honest, detailed reviews on services and tech products for eight years. We’ve been around the block, so we know what products are worth your time and attention—like these six 4K TVs.

Not only did we use our expertise and research knowledge to create this best 4K TVs list, but we also took consumers’ experiences into account.

We read through 100s of reviews to help rank these 4K TVs while also evaluating the specifications each TV offered combined with the price tag. The more specifications it had, such as Dolby Vision and DTS Studio Sound, the better the TV and the justification for a higher dollar.

FAQ

Like the name sounds, 8K resolution provides double the resolution of 4K. While 8K resolution is the future, the current price of 8K TVs is not so friendly for the wallet. You can find a 55-inch 8K TV for $1,000 and an 85-inch 8K TV for $7,000.

Streaming services that offer 4K include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Max, Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, Starz, and YouTube TV.

A 4K TV is worth it if you want to be fully immersed in bright colors, sharp images, and a clear picture. If you want a theater-like experience, you’ll not only get the visual with a 4K TV, but you’ll also get booming surround sound.
