If you go by price per month, the cheapest AT&T internet plan is its Fiber Internet 300 plan, which rings in at $55 a month for your first year. But if you can get only AT&T DSL internet, your cheapest option is the AT&T Internet Air plan. (And if you go by price per Mbps, the AT&T Internet 1,000 plan offers the best value.)

Let’s grab our calculators and dig into the details to see why these three AT&T internet plans stand out when it comes to price.

The AT&T Internet Air plan costs the same as AT&T Fiber 300, but it comes with less download speeds. If you have the choice of Internet Air or Internet 300, go with Internet 300 for sure.

If you're unsure which plans are available to you, the best way to find out if you can get this plan is to enter your address on the AT&T site—or try out our easy zip checker tool.

As you can see, it’s pretty difficult to compete with AT&T Fiber’s promotional prices. So rest assured these internet plans are a good deal. The only thing is you’ll need to live in a city where AT&T Fiber internet service is available.

Cheapest AT&T internet plan by price per Mbps

AT&T Wi-Fi internet plans are priced pretty competitively, but what about the price for the speed you get? Is it good?

Turns out it’s a good price for the speed you get—for the most part. Let’s take a look at each of AT&T’s internet plans and the price per Mbps for each one:

The AT&T Internet 1,000 plan gets you the most bang for your buck with the lowest price per Mbps of them all. This is similar to what we found with the Xfinity Gigabit plan’s price per Mbps, so we’re not surprised.

Pro tip
Money
Save an extra $5–$10 a month

AT&T Internet customers can save up to $10 a month, depending on their chosen payment method.

Enjoy a $5 monthly discount when you pay via credit card, or maximize your savings with a $10 monthly discount when you pay via debit card or bank account.

In fact, all of the AT&T Fiber plans have a decent price per Mbps.

Counting on 40 cents per Mbps for Internet Air is correct only if you can get the max speed of 140 Mbps. If speeds in your area are slower than 140 Mbps, your value goes down. (This is another instance where we’d recommend looking to see if there’s a local ISP or another rural internet provider with a better price.)

Cheapest AT&T internet plan recap

The two cheapest internet plans available from AT&T Internet are the Fiber 300 plan and the AT&T Internet Air plan. The first is only available for folks who have a fiber internet infrastructure set up at your house. The second is available to anybody with AT&T wireless coverage. Your data speeds won't be as fast with AT&T Air, but it certainly beats DSL internet if that's your only alternative.

Methodology

  1. Promo Prices and Beyond: We thoroughly examined the initial promotional prices offered by ISPs and considered the subsequent costs after the promotional period ends. The goal was to ensure that the deal remains financially sound over the long term.

  2. Extra Fees: Beyond the base cost, we considered into additional charges like installation fees, equipment rentals, and other surprises.

  3. Reading the Fine Print: We scrutinized the details in ISP contracts. Identified red flags like hidden fees, unfavorable terms, and unexpected charges.

  4. Coverage and Data Speeds: Going beyond financial considerations, we assessed the geographical coverage and data speeds provided by these plans. Whether you're working, streaming, or gaming, you need a reliable connection.
