Our take: T-Mobile is offering the best deal for January, giving new customers a free 40-inch Amazon Fire TV or $150 back when they sign up for T-Mobile internet online.

The best year-round deal I’ve seen for T-Mobile 5G Home Internet is the $20 monthly discount when you bundle internet with a postpaid phone plan. All plans also come with a 15-day Test Drive guarantee, so you can cancel in your first two weeks of service and get your money back. T-Mobile also has a “Break Free” offer where you get up to $750 to pay off any early termination fees incurred by canceling and switching internet providers.

T-Mobile 5G Home Internet costs $50 per month for up to 245Mbps download speeds, free equipment, and quick self-installation. It ranks as one of the best internet providers overall because it’s widely available, has good customer reviews, and doesn’t nickel and dime you at every opportunity. Our take: Like other mobile and internet providers, AT&T offers steep discounts when you bundle unlimited wireless mobile service and your new fiber or 5G home internet plan. However, you don’t have to bundle plans to get special offers like contract buyouts, autopay discounts, coupon deals, and reward cards.

AT&T Fiber plans start at $55 per month for 300Mbps, which is a great offer in itself because you get symmetrical speeds and unlimited data. Since most people have more than 16 hours a day of screen time and internet usage, you ought to get an unlimited plan so you can stay connected all day long. If fiber isn’t available where you live, you might be able to get AT&T Internet Air. Internet Air costs $60 per month for 75–225Mbps and is one of the best 5G home internet services overall. Our take: Bundling is the way to go with Spectrum. You get hefty monthly discounts and a two to three year price guarantee when you sign up for TV, internet, and mobile packages. You can even get Spectrum Mobile included for one year too. If you want even more discounts, try your hand at negotiating. Our fellow Reviews.org writer Alex Zaragoza put together a “Master Haggler’s Guide to Cheap Internet” which covers her own experiences and tips for cutting down your Spectrum bill.

Even without bundling, Spectrum internet plans are a great deal. Spectrum plans cost $50 for 500Mbps or $70 per month for 1Gbps download speed and unlimited data. Part of your plan includes Spectrum’s customer service commitments, so if you experience an outage longer than two-hours, you get a full-day credit. If you have any service disruptions, Spectrum also will send out a technician comes out the same day if you request it before 5 p.m. Read our Spectrum review.

Our take: Most Comcast Xfinity internet offers are only for new customers, but existing customers can still save with discounted streaming services. For new customers, there are more perks such as mobile, TV, and internet bundling discounts, free monthly gateway lease, and military or student discounts. Xfinity doesn’t have specific credit card reward bonuses, so make sure you set up paperless billing and autopay via ACH to take advantage of the $10 monthly discount.

Xfinity plans start at $20 to $35 per month for 150Mbps (depending on your area) and get great customer reviews. Xfinity also offers it's Internet Essentials plans for $9.95 to 29.95 per month for qualifying low-income households for 50Mbps or 100Mbps respectively. The ISP ranks as one of Reviews.org’s best internet providers because of its competitive prices and top entertainment deals. “Xfinity had many plans available, which made it possible to find one to fit our budget,” says Xfinity customer Derek Marsden. You didn’t hear it from us, but you could technically get new customer deals from Xfinity if you cancel your account and have a different household member sign up for Xfinity’s internet services.

We talked to Bill Holmes, an Xfinity customer in Connecticut who canceled his plan and signed up again under his wife’s name. “She’s a brand new customer, so we got a two-year [deal] for $39.99 a month.”

Our take: Verizon is like the fun aunt who always brings you tons of gifts even when it’s not a special occasion. Any new 5G Home Internet or Fios internet customer can pretty much bank on getting a welcome gift from Verizon, like gift cards, gaming bundles, or streaming services. There is also a $15 to $25 monthly discount when you combine a wireless line and enroll in the Mobile + Home bundle.

Verizon Fios and Verizon 5G Home Internet are both known for great reliability, fast download speeds, and no extra fees. Verizon 5G Home Internet costs $50 to $70 for 300Mbps to 1,000Mbps download speed, and Verizon Fios costs $49.99 to $109.99 per month for 300Mbps to 2,300Mbps. Even without the gift, you luck out with Verizon which includes a two to four year price guarantee, free router rental, and whole-home Wi-Fi (with select plans). Read our Verizon Fios review.

Although it’s not the cheapest, we always recommend getting fiber internet above other internet types. Fiber-to-the-home connections get fast symmetrical speeds, low latency, and usually simpler pricing that includes equipment rental and installation. Among the providers mentioned above, AT&T Fiber and Verizon Fios definitely get you excellent reliability. You can also grab sweet promotional deals from these providers, like gift cards or mobile and internet bundle discounts.

Purely looking at price, Xfinity is one of the cheapest internet providers available on the market. For as low as $20 per month, you can get 150Mbps download speeds. You can also score discounts when you bundle your internet with a mobile plan. Spectrum also offers great bundle deals, but they’re pricier since they get much higher speeds (500Mbps or 1Gbps).

If we’re also looking at the quality of connection, cable providers are more reliable than even the best 5G internet providers, like T-Mobile and Verizon 5G Home Internet. So even though 5G providers might offer some enticing deals and low prices, it’s worth choosing a wired provider over a wireless one.

What makes this guide legit? How we picked the best home internet deals

I start my research process by reading in-depth reviews about individual internet service providers written by the Reviews.org team. These reviews provide a helpful overview of a provider’s deals and a glimpse into real customer experiences.

Part of our editorial strategy is to constantly track home internet plans and prices since the best home internet deals save you the most money in the long run. I evaluate those plans and see if they’re affordable, easy to understand, and inclusive of all your internet needs.

how we review products and services

No matter how good a deal is, there are often extra fees that might rip you off. Coupon codes come and go, so I check broadband facts labels and comb through internet plans to see if they’re good on their own. Sometimes special offers are only available for a limited time, so I have a preference for deals that have been running for a long time. I also consider bundle deals, streaming service discounts, and gift cards to make a list of the best deals of the month.

At Reviews.org, we believe boring internet is usually the best internet. Most customers just want dependable service for an affordable price, so that’s what we look for in the best internet providers. If you want to know more about how we review internet providers, see our How We Test internet guide for a full rundown.

What if I can’t get any of the internet providers on this list?

If none of these best providers are available where you live, aim to sign up with a fiber or cable internet provider that gives you speeds of 300Mbps or faster for a price that fits your budget. Home internet costs about $81 a month on average, but you can get decent Wi-Fi for less in many parts of the country. In a rural area, try a fixed wireless or satellite internet provider.

You can also run a search with your zip code below to see what internet options are available in your area.
