AT&T Internet: $100 AT&T VISA Reward Card when you switch

It may seem like a catch 22 to shop online for a new internet plan, but if you can manage it, this is how you’ll find the best deals.

AT&T Internet is no exception. They’re offering to send you a $100 AT&T VISA Reward Card if you switch to the Up to 100 Mbps plan online.* (There’s only one plan to choose from, so at least that part’s easy.)

How to get it

Once you sign up for AT&T Internet service and redeem this offer, you’ll get your $100 Reward Card three to four weeks later.

Keep in mind you’ll need to use that $100 card within 75 days of receiving your reward notification email or snail mail letter. And once you get your Reward Card, make sure you get yourself something extra nice with that $100 before it expires in six months. (You can use it anywhere, not just on AT&T products.) Don’t snooze and lose!

Is AT&T Internet good?

With the Up to 100 Mbps plan, AT&T delivers the fastest possible download speeds to your home. Up to 100 Mbps, of course. And if you can land those 100 Mbps speeds, the monthly price is a great deal.

We go into more detail about AT&T’s internet reliability, data caps, and contracts in our AT&T internet review.

Optimum: $100 Amazon gift card on select Optimum bundles

Optimum’s betting you’ll need to bundle up this winter. Its latest internet promotion is a pretty reasonable price plus a $100 Amazon gift card on certain bundles.

Aside from $100 to go bananas on Amazon with, here’s what you get with each of the qualifying triple plays:

Data effective 1/29/2020. Offers and availability vary by location and are subject to change.
*For 24 months. Plus taxes, fees, and other charges.

How to get it

You’ll need to be a new residential customer and sign up online to get this internet deal. And don’t channel your inner Bart Simpson, either, because Optimum won’t send you your Amazon gift card unless you’ve been in good standing for 90 days. (So pay your bills on time, folks.)

Is Optimum internet good?

Optimum tends to deliver reliably fast internet to residents of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. (And unfortunately, it’s not available at all outside those states.) We’d love to see more options for those of us who don’t need 200 Mbps download speeds or faster. But at those prices, we wouldn’t say we’re complaining.

You can dig into the nitty-gritty of Optimum’s internet service in our Optimum review.

Spectrum: Contract buyout for up to $500

If you’re stuck in a contract with an internet provider that doesn’t deliver the goods you need, it can be scary to end that relationship.

Not only do you typically have to interact with customer service reps who’ll try just about anything to keep you, but there’s probably an early termination fee (ETF) to boot. That’s why the Spectrum contract buyout deal is pretty sweet.

Depending on how much your current internet provider charges you for canceling early, Spectrum will pay you back—up to $500—if you swap to its service. We typically see ETFs listed in the $200 range, so a contract buyout of up to $500 is right on the money.

How to get it

The only catch with Spectrum’s contract buyout is that you’ll need to sign up for a qualifying triple play or double play bundle. Spectrum doesn’t spell out which of its bundles qualify, so we recommend asking a customer service rep which bundles are eligible for the contract buyout.

You’ll also need to give Spectrum a copy of your final bill that lists your early termination fee and fill out a Spectrum Contract Buyout Form.

Is Spectrum internet good?

You’ve likely heard Spectrum mentioned in the news, and likely not in a good way. But despite the bad rap, this ISP offers up reasonable prices that don’t come with contracts or data caps.

Windstream: $100 credit when you order Kinetic Internet

Windstream’s offering a $100 credit if you order one of its Kinetic Internet plans.

That’s almost a steal considering none of its Kinetic plans will cost you more than $100 a month. So, depending on which download speed you pick, this deal is almost like two free months of internet service. (But really the credit will show up as a reduced monthly cost for one year.)

Just keep in mind that Windstream’s prices depend on where in the US you live. You’ll need to enter your address to see which plans are available near you and what they’ll cost.

Just like some other deals we’ve mentioned, to get this deal, you’ll need to sign up online.

That said, this internet deal may not be available in your area (we saw it in Florida), but since you have to enter your address to view Windstream plans near you, there shouldn’t be any surprises. You’ll also need to be a new customer—meaning you haven’t signed up for Windstream internet within the past 30 days.

Is Windstream internet good?

Windstream offers a whole slew of download speeds at good prices, which we like. It also comes with no contracts or data caps. But you’ll want to watch your bill for a higher monthly price once you’ve had Windstream internet for a year.

We’ll help you weigh those pros and cons in our Windstream internet review.

Xfinity: Discounted Performance Starter plan with speed boost

Hell-ooo! If you’re a casual internet user who doesn’t need a whole lot of speed to check Facebook and forward emails to your niece, this Xfinity deal should be right up your alley.

Its Performance Starter plan typically comes with 15 Mbps download speeds, but this deal bumps that up to 25 Mbps. And there’s no price bump to go with it—the discounted cost is $20 a month.

How to get it

This deal is pretty sweet, but it looks like Xfinity’s limited it to the Central US. (For now, we hope.) Also, keep in mind that if you sign up for its Performance Starter plan, you’ll pay the discounted $20 price for the 12 months of your one-year contract. After that, your monthly price goes back up to the standard rate.

Is Xfinity internet good?

If you use the internet, you’ve probably heard of Comcast Xfinity. It’s the most available internet provider out there, serving almost all of the US. And while this cable internet giant gets a bad rap for some not-so-great customer service sometimes, we’ve found it dishes out reliably fast download speeds.

You can find out more about the good and bad in our Xfinity internet review.

How to find the best internet prices

If you’ve got money on your mind and your mind on your money, here are a few tips to help you find the best internet prices in your area.

1. Compare prices in your area

Did you brush up on your game show skills? Because it’s about to feel a little like The Price is Right in here.

Sure, comparison shopping for internet can feel like a major shot in the dark, just like guessing how much that set of deluxe pots and pans plus gas range sells for. But we’ve got a few tricks you can tuck up your sleeve to make things easier, like our list of the top five cheapest internet providers overall.

And if you tell us your ZIP code, we can sift through our internet plan data to find out which ISPs offer plans in your area. That narrows things down a bit, eh?

Compare prices for internet service near you.

2. But don’t just rely on price

If you’re a heavy internet user and love to stream Disney+ in 4K or hop online for a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds match, you don’t want to just grab the cheapest plan out there.

Take a look at our download speed guide to find out how much speed you need to keep yourself connected. Then check out the five fastest ISPs and see if any of your local providers made the list. Chances are if they’re mentioned, they’ll deliver blazing fast download speeds directly to your modem.

3. Don’t be afraid to ask

If you can’t order online or don’t see one of these offers show up when you’re checking out, we still think it’s worth calling and asking the internet provider to cut you a deal.

Just make sure you’ve got all the info about the promotion you want applied. And hey, a little kindness never hurts either.
