Thanks to Prime Day's annual deluge of discounts, this week is a great time to buy a new monitor.

Amazon's homegrown sales event is set to run for 48-hours this year, and there's a ton of great discounts on desktop displays from Samsung, LG, Acer and more.

Last week? Not so much. Unfortunately, this is exactly what my partner did after I confidently assured her that a trendy 23% discount on this AOC gaming monitor wasn't likely to be too behind what this year's Prime Day sales could offer.

It turns out I was wrong. This year's Prime Day promotions boast some really genuinely fantastic deals when it comes to gaming monitors. For instance, Alienware 25 gaming monitor is 33% off. Even if it's a little on the small side, a $230 discount on a $699 monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate is nothing to scoff at. Maybe I should try and sell my partner on the idea of buying a second new monitor?

In retrospect, I probably should have waited to see what this year's Prime Day had to offer. Alas, if you're keen to learn from my mistakes and looking for the short and simple version, check out the table below for a round-up of this year's best Prime Day deals on monitors and gaming monitors.
