Arlo Pro 2 vs. Arlo Pro 3 Review
The Arlo Pro 3 is a serious upgrade over the Arlo Pro 2, but you’ll definitely pay for the better tech specs. The Arlo Pro 3 costs about twice as much as the Pro 2 for the same number of cameras.
If you’ve got the cash, we think the Arlo Pro 3’s features are worth it. But the Arlo Pro 2 is no slouch either. If you just want a high-quality outdoor security camera to guard your yard, then the Arlo Pro 2 will serve you well.

Arlo Pro 2 features
Despite the Arlo Pro 3’s bragging rights, the Arlo Pro 2 is still a really good security camera. It’s wire-free, so you don’t have to drill holes through walls or thread wires through windows to plug it in. Plus, it’s weatherproof and comes with two-way audio so you can talk to people in your yard—even in the dead of winter.

The Arlo Pro 3 takes just about everything from your security camera wishlist and wraps it up in one neat package. It comes with 2K Ultra HD resolution, which gives you crisp, clear images. It also has a built-in spotlight and siren, neither of which you get with the Arlo Pro 2.
You don’t need a whole separate security light when you have two-in-one with the Arlo Pro 3.
Arlo Pro 2 vs. Arlo Pro 3 pricing
The Arlo Pro 3 will cost you a pretty penny. It costs twice as much as the Arlo Pro 2 for a two-camera starter kit. And even after that initial starter kit, the price for add-on cameras is almost double for an Arlo Pro 3 as for the Pro 2.

You’ll plug in the base station and then sync your camera(s) with it so that everything is connected. From there, mounting the cameras is pretty easy with either model. Both the Arlo Pro 2 and the Arlo Pro 3 are wire-free, and they let you use rechargeable batteries so you don’t have to worry about power cords.
You don’t have to use power cords but you can use AC power cords with either the Arlo Pro 2 or the Arlo Pro 3. If you’d rather not run around recharging batteries, then the cords are an option. AC-powered cameras also tend to perform better than battery-powered cameras. In fact, sometimes you can only access certain features if your camera is plugged in.
Recap: Which Arlo camera is better?
The Arlo Pro 3 is definitely an upgrade over the Arlo Pro 2. You get better video quality, better built-in features (like a spotlight and a siren), and a wider field of vision.
But the Arlo Pro 2 is still one of our favorite outdoor security cameras. It’s a solid choice if you want a wire-free, high-definition camera that won’t eat your whole budget.
Features: The Arlo Pro 3 has better features than the Pro 2, no question. You get higher resolution, a wider view, a built-in security light, and a built-in siren to scare away intruders.
Pricing: The Arlo Pro 2 costs about half as much as the Arlo Pro 3. If you don’t want to pay for all those fancy schmancy features, then the Arlo Pro 2 will leave more cash in your wallet.
