While Viasat has a few plan options, you're probably only eligible for Viasat Unleashed, which is the best option for most people anyway.

In February 2024, Viasat announced the Viasat Unleashed plan. This plan replaced other Viasat plans for 93% of customers and has no contracts or data limits.

“Both these features are becoming the norm for wired connections like cable and fiber, but Viasat is currently the only satellite provider offering both these features,” says Peter Christiansen, an internet expert from HighSpeedInternet.com.

But is Viasat Unleashed a good deal? Yes—but not as good as it looks. The unlimited data and no contracts are considerable improvements in the satellite internet space. Viasat also has no fee for standard installation options, and you'll only pay up to $250 for your equipment (versus $350+ with Starlink). But even with these boons, as a satellite internet connection, Viasat's average speed is still painfully slow, and the connection can be unreliable.

Still, Viasat's Unleashed plan for $129.99 per month offers the highest download speeds and the largest data allowance. While Bronze 12 or Silver 12 plans may be cheaper, their speeds are limited to 12 Mbps at most, which can feel agonizingly slow, especially when handling multiple devices or high-bandwidth tasks like HD video streaming.

In the end, Viasat looks most favorable pricewise when compared to its satellite competitor, Starlink. It's not as fast, but it's cheaper in every way.
