The Blink Indoor Camera still gives you everything you loved about the XT2, including HD video resolution, night vision, two-way audio, and affordable pricing. Plus, the Blink Indoor Camera still has that sweet two-year-long battery life.

High-quality video
In our tests, the Blink Indoor Camera churned out crisp, clear, HD images every time. The video lag and livestream load-up time were on par with other indoor security cameras, and we had no problems with slow-motion notifications or missed recordings.
We didn’t expect much from the Blink Indoor Camera. With such a low price and such a long battery life, it wouldn’t have surprised us if the Blink Indoor produced grainy, laggy footage during everyday use. To find the opposite was a pleasant surprise.
Customizable settings
The Blink Home Monitor app gives you a bunch of different ways to customize your camera settings. You can schedule the camera to turn on or off depending on the day and the time. You can adjust motion detection sensitivity, lower video resolution, and download video clips.
The best customization option is the adjustable activity zones. The Blink app overlays a grid on your camera’s view where you can block out the areas you don’t need to watch. This feature is crucial if you’re tired of getting notifications every time your neighbor walks by your window.
Cloud and local storage
Previous Blink camera iterations had free cloud storage but no local option. Now, Blink requires a subscription for cloud storage, but it offers local storage for no monthly fee as long as you have the Blink Sync Module 2.
The Sync Module comes with the camera if you order the Blink Indoor as part of a kit. If you only have the camera, then you’ll have to order the Sync Module separately for about $35 to skip the cloud storage subscription fee.
Local storage doesn’t just save you a few bucks every month—it gives you a leg-up on privacy. Hackers can’t get to footage stores on a flash drive the way they can break into footage stored in the cloud.
Fuzzy night vision
We’ve talked about the things we liked, now let’s get to the downsides of the Blink Indoor Camera. The biggest issue with the Blink Indoor Camera is that its night vision isn’t . . . great. People tend to look either fuzzy or washed out.
The night vision works somewhat well if you can position the Blink camera just right. But it’s not exactly our top pick for a night vision camera.
No Google integration
Blink is owned by Amazon, which doesn’t always get along well with Google products. As such, the Blink Indoor camera works great with Amazon Alexa, but don’t plan on adding it to your Google Home or Google Nest Mini.
We’re hoping Blink will add a Google integration in the future (and maybe an Apple HomeKit integration while it’s at it), but in the meantime, Alexa it is.

You won’t even have to break out a Benjamin for this one.
For an indoor security camera, the Blink Indoor is pretty cheap. We usually plan to spend around $100 for a decent indoor camera, and at $79.99 for a standalone camera, Blink easily beats that benchmark.
The Blink Indoor is also cheaper than Blink’s Outdoor model by about $10. When choosing an indoor camera instead of an outdoor camera, you miss out on weather resistance, but otherwise, the features of the Blink Outdoor and the Blink Indoor are basically the same.
Blink cloud subscription
You'll also have to pay the monthly fee for Blink's cloud storage service if you prefer to store your clips in the cloud. Luckily, you'll have two plans to choose from and it’s not too expensive.

Blink doesn’t have a ton of smart home integrations, especially compared to cameras like Arlo and Ring. Blink is cheaper than Arlo, but all you get with the Blink Indoor Camera is Amazon Alexa and IFTTT.
The Blink Alexa Skill lets you arm and disarm your camera, view recent motion clips, check how many unwatched clips you have, and check your camera’s status. If you have an Alexa Show, you can pull up your camera’s livestream on the screen.
Blink Indoor Camera installation
The Blink Indoor has a simple set-up process.
You can have the Blink Indoor Camera up and running in less than 10 minutes. If you already have the Blink Home Monitor app on your phone, you can add the Indoor Camera as a new device. If not, then download the app and set up an account.
To add the Blink Indoor Camera to the app, you just have to select which model to add, scan the camera’s QR code, and link it to your Wi-Fi from your phone.
Blink Indoor Camera installation steps:
- Download the Blink Home Monitor app and create an account.
- Press the + button in the right-hand corner to add a device.
- If you have a Sync Module 2, select it from the list.
- Scan the QR code on the Sync Module and name your system.
- Follow the instructions in the app to plug in the Sync Module and wait for the LED lights to turn on.
- Add the Sync Module to your Wi-Fi network.
- Once the Sync Module is set up, add the Indoor Camera as a new device.
- Scan the QR code on the back of the camera and put in the AA batteries.
Once you have the camera linked to the app, you can mount it near whatever area you want to watch. (Maybe your pets?) The camera comes with an optional mount to put the camera on ceilings or walls, but you can also set the camera on any flat surface. (That wire-free thing comes in handy here.)

The Blink Indoor Camera could use more smart integrations, but it’s good for the price.
The Blink Indoor Camera is a pretty good deal for what you get. It’s small and lightweight but packs a punch with high-resolution video recording, motion detection, two-way audio, and motion detection.
Features: The Blink Indoor Camera has all the features we expect in a decent camera. Just know the night vision isn’t awesome, and Blink doesn’t work with Google speakers.
Pricing: Blink’s prices are great for the value. The Blink Indoor Camera costs less than $100, even if you buy it along with the Sync Module 2.
Home automation: The Blink Indoor Camera doesn’t have a ton of smart home integrations. It’s really just Amazon Alexa and IFTTT.
Installation: Installation couldn’t be much easier with the Blink Indoor Camera. Just follow the instructions in the Blink app, then put the camera wherever you want it.
Many battery-powered cameras are much more expensive than the Blink Indoor Camera and with lower battery life. For a wire-free camera with good image quality and customizable settings, the Blink Indoor Camera is a solid choice.
