Due to battery overheating concerns, the Pixel 4a has been recalled in Australia but you've probably already initiated the fix. As part of the Android 13 roll out in January, these devices recieved new battery management features which should mitigate the risks. Google and the ACCC urge users to update their devices manually, if it hasn't automatically done so.

Not all Pixel 4a devices are impacted by this recall, but affected devices were sold through all major Australian telcos, Google Australia, Likewise Australia, JB HiFi, Harvey Norman, and Officeworks. Consumers can submit a request to see if their device is impacted directly through Google via this link. Eligible customers may be able to claim appeasement, which could come in the form of a replacement or refund.

Considering the Pixel 4a was originally released back in 2020, these remedies could be quite limited as the device's effective life is just three years.
