Like TPG and Exetel, iPrimus is another example of an internet provider who also offers mobile plans these days. This provider-plus-telco offers a handful of SIM Only mobile plans that cater to moderate and heavy users. Here’s everything you need to know about iPrimus SIM Only mobile plans in Australia.

iPrimus mobile quick facts

  • iPrimus SIM Only plans are sold on the Optus 4G Plus mobile network, which has coverage for 98.5% of Australians.
  • Don’t look to iPrimus for Prepaid mobile plans but do consider them for a SIM Only mobile plan if you want a decent amount of monthly postpaid data.
  • Every iPrimus SIM Only mobile plan comes with international call minutes and unlimited text messages to international numbers.
  • iPrimus SIM Only mobile plans are typically light on extra plan perks.

What are the different types of iPrimus mobile plans?

iPrimus only sells SIM Only mobile plans. These plans are paid at the end of a monthly billing cycle. As is the telco trend, iPrimus SIM Only plans include unlimited standard national calls and text. Buying a pricier iPrimus plan effectively means paying for more data (and additional international call minutes).

iPrimus SIM Only mobile plans and prices

iPrimus SIM Only mobile plans operate around the middle in terms of pricing and data inclusions. While you should look to other telcos for cheap SIM Only plans or alternatives with hundreds of gigabytes of monthly data, iPrimus has competitive dollar-to-data value for its priciest plans.

What do you get with iPrimus mobile plans?

iPrimus mobile plan speeds

iPrimus uses the Optus mobile network for its SIM Only plans. While customers shouldn’t expect Optus 5G speeds, they can technically expect download speeds up to 100Mbps via the Optus 4G Plus network. In practical terms, Opensignal research says average speeds of 56Mbps download and 8Mbps upload.

iPrimus mobile plan data

In Australia, the median monthly mobile data allowance is 35GB. All iPrimus SIM Only mobile plans have comfortably more data than that median amount, which is enough for most average users. iPrimus’s priciest SIM Only plan comes with 100GB of data for heavy users. Dollar-to-data value isn’t overly competitive for the cheapest iPrimus SIM Only plan but that improves with its pricier picks.

iPrimus mobile plan international calls

The pricier the iPrimus SIM Only mobile plan, the more international minutes you get for calling overseas destinations, ranging from 300 to 1,000 minutes. Regardless of the minutes, the 35 destination choices are the same: Bangladesh, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Republic of Ireland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam.

All iPrimus SIM Only plans also include unlimited texts to international numbers.

iPrimus mobile plan features

If you want a SIM Only plan with lots of perks, look at plans from Telstra, Optus, Woolworths Mobile or Vodafone because iPrimus doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of perks. Sure, there’s the standard $0 setup fees but there isn’t much else that hasn’t been outlined above, including eSIM (iPrimus only offers physical SIM cards).

iPrimus does support international roaming, which is activated or disabled via live chat or by calling 131 789. It’s a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) service, though, which means you’ll be paying different fees for making and receiving calls from another country, sending and receiving texts, and using data (charged per megabyte). Prices are $1 for Zone 1 and 2 countries or $16 per 1MB of data in Zone 3 countries. It costs $1.50 per minute of making and receiving calls or sending and receiving texts in Zone 1 and 2 countries or $4 for Zone 3 destinations.
