At IFA Roborock debuted the Qrevo Curv and Qrevo Edge - robot vacuums capable of mounting 4cm thresholds - and now they're coming to Australia. While 4cm does not make a stair persay, these are the robot vacuums closest to solving the dreaded stair problem.
Using the Adaptilift Chassis, both the Curv and the Edge are able to lift their bodies around four times higher than the typical robovac. We got a chance to see these devices in action in Berlin earlier this year, and they sure do fly. During the demo the vacuum hurled itself towards the stair, and practically leapt up it. There is still a way to go until vacuums can actually climb your stairs at home, but this is a small step in the right direction.
Alongside Adaptalift technology, the two devices share the same features but with different designs. Both have 18,500Pa suction - the highest in the category, Zero Tangle rollers, and all-in-one docking stations including hot water mop washing, air drying, and auto emptying and refilling for mop water and debris. We've tested a whole bunch of Roborock devices with similar features and can attest to how well the Zero Tangle rollers work. For myself - a long haired, high-shedding puppy parent - these have been game changing.
The pair also include Roborock's Reactive AI Obstacle Recognition, which has consistently come out top of the line in our testing.
Where the pair differ is their physical design. As the names suggest, the Curv is rounded, while the Edge has sharper corners. Both are priced at $2,799 for the Australian market, so you'll really just have to decide which aesthetic you prefer.
For now the Qrevo Edge is available to pre-order between now and December 31, 2024, while the Qrevo Curv won't be available until early next year.
Pre-orders of the Edge come with some bonuses if you're ready to commit to a sharper design. Ordering through Roborock directly will get you the Flexi Lite hard floor cleaner for free (valued at $699), while ordering from other retailers comes with a $200 gift card.
