The Joy Xtra is a mid-sized take on Cricut’s smart cutting machines. Coming in at 31.7cm wide, the Joy Xtra is 25cm smaller than the Explore and Maker range, and 10cm larger than Joy - Cricut is calling it the ‘Goldilocks’ of its machines.

With a maximum cut size of 21.6cm x 1.2m, the Xtra Joy can handle projects twice the width of the original Joy. It can also manage thicker, and larger cardstock than its pint-sized counterpart, and is compatible with over 50 materials including Cricut’s new Printable Sticker paper and Printable Iron-On materials.

The new printable materials allow makers to print their designs with any compatible inkjet printer, giving access to the full colour spectrum, and eliminating the need to stack vinyl in the design process. According to the Regional Head of Cricut, Nicola Dow Smith the printable materials are just as durable as the traditional vinyl and iron-on materials and should last around 30 washes before showing signs of wear.

Joy Xtra Starter Bundle will retail at $429, inclusive of

  • Cricut Joy Xtra™ Smart Cutting Machine
  • Cricut® Printable Waterproof Sticker Set – A4 (6 ct)
  • Cricut® Printable Iron-On For Light Fabrics – A4 (5 ct)
  • Cricut Joy Xtra™ Transfer Tape (3 ft)
  • Cricut Joy Xtra™ Light Grip Mat
  • Cricut Joy Xtra™ Smart Vinyl™ – Permanent Sampler, Classics (3 ct)
  • Cricut Joy Xtra™ Smart Iron-On™ Sampler, Elegance (3 ct)

From September 8th, the Starter Bundle will be available exclusively from Harvey Norman, with additional retailers to follow in October.
