Spintel plans are suited for those who live in metropolitan areas. There are a few NBN options, a handful of wireless home broadband choices and a couple of data-only mobile broadband plans.
Spintel only offers a few NBN plans, which should be available to anyone living in a home with Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP), Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC), Fibre-to-the-Curb (FTTC), Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB)or Fibre-to-the-Node (FTTN) technologies. All of these technologies can access Spintel’s NBN 25/10 and NBN 100/20 plans, but only those in HFC and FTTP abodes can sign up for Spintel’s NBN 250/25 plan. Note that Spintel tends to offer six months of promotional pricing for new customers with its NBN plans.

For those in eligible suburbs, Spintel also offers wireless home internet plans. The cheapest Spintel home internet plan is a 4G plan but all other Spintel home internet plans offer 5G. Paying more for the Spintel 5G plans equates to faster typical evening download speeds.

What you get with a Spintel internet plan varies based on the plan type. Almost every Spintel internet plan comes with unlimited data, except for the cheapest Spintel mobile broadband plan. Below is a look at the typical evening download and upload speeds you can expect from Spintel’s internet plans:
Spintel follows the NBN provider trend of selling plans without contracts and $0 sign-up fees. You can get a discount if you bundle a Spintel SIM-only plan with a Spintel internet plan. Spintel also has a referral scheme if you successfully refer friends, family or colleagues.
If you want a home phone, Spintel offers free incoming calls and pay-as-you-go outgoing calls. Alternatively, Spintel charges $10 a month for unlimited calls to home phones and mobile numbers in Australia. While Spintel offers eSIM for its SIM-only mobile plans, it doesn’t appear to offer this feature for its mobile broadband plans.
Spintel lets its users BYO NBN-compatible router or modem-router but there are a couple of preconfigured options you can buy. For Spintel NBN plans, add a TP-Link VX230v modem-router for $139.95 upfront or spend $249.95 on the same device with a TP-Link HX510 mesh WiFi extender. The TP-Link VX230v modem-router is compatible with all NBN technologies, supports VoIP calls and offers dual-band WiFi 6 with wireless speeds up to 1800Mbps. It also sports three gigabit Ethernet ports and a single USB 2.0 port.
There are a few different purchasable options for a Spintel home internet plan. You can get the dual-band WiFi 5 Nokia FastMile 5G router, which has three gigabit Ethernet ports and a single USB 3.0 port. Alternatively, there’s the Huawei B628 modem-router, which has two gigabit Ethernet ports and a VoIP telephone port. This dual-band WiFi 5 modem-router supports speeds up to 600Mbps download and 100Mbps upload.
For a portable alternative (in supported areas), Spintel also offers the Netgear AC800S, which is a dual-band WiFi 5 device with 11 hours of battery life. This Netgear modem-router is available for home internet and mobile broadband customers.
Spintel home internet and mobile broadband plans operate on the Optus 4G mobile network, which is available to 98.5% of Australians.
