Benvenuto. Downstream is a weekly news round-up of the biggest streaming and television headlines of the week from your friends at Reviews.org Australia.

Happy Friday to you and welcome to the very first edition of Downstream, Reviews.org Australia's round-up of the week's most interesting headlines in the world of streaming and entertainment.

Reviews.org Australia is going through some changes and one of those changes will involve us covering a lot more local streaming news. We've avoided covering broader streaming news for a while now because we're a small team with other responsibilities and there are simply only so many hours in the day. So this is our solution. Anula and I will be covering major news related to streaming services and stories that are important for an Australian audience, but Downstream is where you will find things like TV series and movie announcements, trailers and other streaming tidbits from around the web. It's by no means a comprehensive news round-up, just the things that we think our audience will find interesting.

Starting with one thing we know for a fact our audience will find interesting: Fallout Season 2 news.

Leaked Fallout Season 2 trailer shows New Vegas on the horizon

Fallout New Vegas TV Show

You can't turn on your television at the moment without seeing Walton Goggins' gleaming pearly whites. After filming The White Lotus Season 3, and The Righteous Gemstones final season, the owner of Walton Goggins' Goggle Glasses moved straight onto filming the highly-anticipated second season of Prime Video's Fallout adaptation. Last week, a post on social media from the official Fallout TV show account saw Goggins' removing his ghoulish prosthetics in slow motion to celebrate the end of filming for Season 2. Then, just a few days later, a release date was announced and an actual teaser trailer was leaked and quickly removed from Reddit. That teaser showed Walton Goggins' Ghoul, Ella Purnell's Lucy and Dog's Dogmeat, heading towards what is clearly New Vegas, the setting for the beloved PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game, Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout Season 2 will drop on Amazon Prime Video December 2025, right in time for Christmas.

Here are some more stories from the week in streaming.

Amazon has ordered a spin-off of Creed
Amazon has ordered a spin-off of the movie Creed, which is already a spin-off of the Rocky series, making this a spin-off of a spin-off. Titled Delphi, the series will be produced by Creed star Michael B Jordan.
Apple TV Plus and Gordon Ramsay shoot for the stars
Apple TV Plus has ordered a docuseries from the Idiot Sandwich artist Gordon Ramsay. Titled Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, the eight-episode series will follow a group of top-tier chefs as they chase the approval of Michelin's undercover judges.
Bye bye Bandersnatch
As it was foretold last week, Black Mirror's interactive special Bandersnatch has now been officially removed from Netflix across the world. The meta Choose Your Own Adventure episode that let the viewer decide the fate of Fionn Whitehead's beleagured protagonist was one of Netflix's (and Charlie Brooker's) most ambitious projects. But some corporate malarkey involving a new user interface has pushed Netflix to sunset the technology underpinning Bandersnatch and other specials like it. Netflix is yet to offer any consolation for fans of the show.
Eurovision has begun
The singing Olympics have officially begun and whether you're in it for the glitz and glamour of those fascinating Europeans or you're batting for the Australian Milkshake guy, you can catch every moment on SBS On Demand in Australia.
Not so good news about Netflix ads
If, like us, you were hoping Netflix users would spit on the concept of ad-breaks considering the absence of advertisements was one of the streaming service's major selling points, we've got bad news. It turns out plenty of Netflix users are a-okay with stomaching a few advertisements to save a few dollars on their streaming bill.
Welcome Home from Jail, HBO Max, Max, HBO Max
On a lighter note, a win for common sense. When Warner Bros. Discovery rebranded the streaming service HBO Max to just Max, it was a misguided attempt to signal to audiences that the app would be so much more after the Discovery merger. That is despite HBO content being, and still being, the major draw for the streaming service that recently launched in Australia. Well, whether it's good old-fashioned common sense or a spreadsheet of brand awareness metrics and subscriber numbers to thank, Warner Bros. Discovery is officially re-rebranding the streaming app to HBO Max worldwide.
Nic Cage's The Surfer drops in on Stan next month
Currently enjoying its time in the sun with a limited theatrical release, Lorcan Finnegan's Australian film The Surfer starring Nicolas Cage, will release on Stan on the 15th of June. We saw it this week and can confirm it's one of the most deranged Aussie flicks we've seen for a long time. When live gives you Nic Cage...
