Downstream: Revisiting this year’s Oscar winners

In this week's Downstream, we're revisiting the 2025 Academy Award winners to find out where they're streaming now, while taking a trip down memory lane with some of our favourite sitcoms and finishing off Season 2 of Andor.
Anora finally hits Binge in June
When Binge lost all its HBO content to Max in March, things weren't looking great for the local streamer. When it came to TV shows, HBO made up the majority of Binge's most popular series before Warner Bros. Discovery decided to launch Max locally. The Last of Us, The White Lotus and The Pitt are just three recently trending shows that moved to Max overnight. But legacy shows like Game of Thrones, The Sopranos and Succession also made the move. But TV is just part of the equation.
A decent whack of the most popular movies currently streaming still live on Binge. The Accountant, The Wild Robot, Kraven: The Hunter, Nobody and Transformers One are just a few that are currently streaming on Binge, for example. Next month, two more big-ticket movies are coming to the same service. Academy Award winners Anora and Wicked will both, finally, be available to stream on-demand via Binge in June.
I won't say no to another rewatch of Best Director Sean Baker's Best Picture winner starring Best Actress Mikey Madison, and while I missed it at the movies, I'm told Wicked will help break the musical spell Encanto currently has on this casita.
This news got me wondering what other winners were now streaming in Australia. Sadly, most are still locked in digital rental prison. The Brutalist, EMILIA PÉREZ, Conclave, I'm Still Here and Animated Feature Winner Flow are all either still screening in cinemas, available to rent or buy digitally, or both.
Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain is, however, streaming on Disney Plus.
Here are the films available to rent or buy digitally:
Anora and Wicked release on Binge on the 14th and 28th of June, respectively.
More movie and TV headlines from the week
On the surface, The Minecraft Movie seemed like an atypical video game adaptation; perfectly fine and absolutely forgettable. But a series of memes involving audience participation have helped make it a record-breaking box office success. It may already be available at home for a premium digital price, the movie will head to WBD's streaming on-demand service (HBO) Max in June.

The nail (and skin) biting drama Yellowjackets has been greenlit for season four. Production and release dates are TBA, but we would guess we’ll see more from the soccer squad in 2026.
A five-part documentary about the iconic director Martin Scorsese is coming to Apple TV+. Produced by Rebecca Miller, Mr. Scorsese is a portrait of the man explored through his own work. Complemented by fresh interviews with friends, family, and the man himself, the series looks like a must-watch for film buffs.
From June 1st, every Hunger Games film finds a new home on (HBO) Max.
I had convinced myself I had hallucinated The Last Man on Earth. No one else seems to have heard of this post-apocalyptic, slapstick, Kimmy Schmidt-style sitcom. Now, the entire run is coming to Stan from June 4th, and everyone should watch it so I finally have someone to talk about it with.
Right in time for you to binge Captain America: Brave New World, Andor Season 2 and the original Lilo and Stitch, Disney Plus is offering four months of its Standard plan for $4.99 per month. Usually $15.99 per month, the discount is only valid for new and eligible returning customers for the first four months, after which your monthly payment will revert to $15.99 per month.
Get Disney Plus for $4.99/mth. Deal ends 11th of June 2025.
