That said, it's fair to expect an increase once your contract expires. At least that was my experience: I had DISH for several years, and while it's a compelling service, bad weather can cause outages.

DISH Network carries a lot of popular channels, and you don’t need the most expensive tiers to access them. A technician must install your satellite, but there’s no cost, and it can typically be done the following business day.
- Flex plan: Only gives you lifestyle channels like HGTV, Food Network, and Lifetime. That means if you don’t want sports, you don’t have to pay for them.
- Sports, locals, and cable news: You must purchase the America’s Top 120 plan at a minimum, and that offering only includes one connected TV.
- Two-year price guarantee: You can switch between plans at any time, but don’t expect your price to stay the same after the two years are up.
- No hidden fees: DISH Network doesn't charge any with its plans.
- Discounts available: Seniors and frontline workers can save.
- Latino add-ons: DISH TV sells various Latino add-ons for subscribers wanting content from the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, and more.
Pricing and contract terms were irritating when I was a DISH Network subscriber, but not everyone agrees with that sentiment. “[I’m] mostly happy,” said Redditor JLMarr1622.

DISH Network is generally reliable, except during bad weather. When I was a subscriber, high winds or heavy precipitation often disrupted reception. DISH Network has a Signal Protector guarantee, but in my experience, unreliable service was inevitable during inclement weather.
- User complaints: "28 years and I'm leaving. The equipment and software [are] buggy and prone to glitches," said Redditor Brutal4455.
- Hopper 3 DVR: Allows users to simultaneously record 16 shows and up to 2,000 hours of content, and you can skip commercials.
- HD free for life: Available with all plans, with which I’ve never had an issue. DISH also offers some 4K content.
- Joey add-on: The Hopper 3 DVR is included in the base cost, but if you want to extend it, you need to purchase a Joey, which costs an additional $7–$10 per month.

DISH Network is robust in its feature offerings. Unlike cable, where you might pay for some of those perks, DISH TV includes many of them in its plans.

- Hopper 3 DVR: Although not unlimited, it lets you record up to 2,000 hours and supports up to seven TVs.
- DISH Anywhere app: Access recordings and watch live TV on the go, free to all DISH Network subscribers.
- Latino add-ons: Available for subscribers who want Spanish channels, plus a DishLATINO subscription for a curated bilingual lineup.
- Streaming service integration: Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, and more all work within the Hopper 3 DVR interface, making it easy to watch your favorite content within one ecosystem.
Who is DISH Network best for?
Next to DIRECTV, DISH Network is the only other remaining major satellite TV company. Despite its nationwide coverage, DISH TV may be too expensive for people looking to cut costs.
- Two-year contract: Users must pay an early termination fee of $20 per remaining month to exit.
- Best for rural areas: Cable companies generally don't offer service there.
- $90/mo. barrier to entry: Too expensive for many Americans.
- Hard to lower your bill: Unless you get a kind customer service rep, there are very few ways to lower your DISH Network bill — DISH saves its best deals for new customers.
- No-contract alternative: If you want to avoid a contract and live TV streaming, some other cable TV providers may offer better value for your needs.

DISH Network carries many popular networks, and if you just want ESPN, cable news, and popular lifestyle content, you can get that in its base plan. If you find that you’re missing a channel, you can move to a different plan with no hassle.
- Flex plan personalization: Select 50+ channels, but don't expect it to include sports or local networks.
- One sports add-on: Unlike many cable plans, you're not forced to purchase multiple plans to get all the sports channels you want.
- Top 120+ plan: Get mainstream professional or collegiate sports channels without subscribing to the highest-end plan.
- YouTube TV alternative: Skip the contract and save $20 a month while getting most of the channels available on DISH Network.
- No regional sports networks (RSNs): Local sports fans will miss some action despite DISH's otherwise strong sports lineup.
