If you feel Samsung updated its roster of Odyssey laptops only a few months ago, you’d be right. Fortunately, the fresh slate of screens the company have brought to show off at this year’s CES don't just come with added glare resistance. They include the company’s first flat-screen OLEDs.

In prior years, opting for one of Samsung’s OLED gaming monitors meant constraining your selection to curved screens. That’s going to be no longer the case in 2024, courtesy of the new Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6. In addition to offering the usual advantages that come with OLED, these monitors also boast a slim metal stand design and a unique feature called Core Lighting Plus.

According to Samsung, this inclusion “helps immerse users in the environments of their games and entertainment” by emitting ambient light from the back of the monitor.”

The Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27-inch QHD resolution monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms of response time. The Odyssey OLED G8 is 32 inches, ups the ante to 4K resolution and throws in the ability to act as a hub for Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem.

The lineup Samsung is showing off at CES is rounded out by a refresh of the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9. This update to the brand’s monolithic 49-inch gaming monitor is just as big and curved as the previous incarnation but now includes the same hub support for Samsung SmartThings seen in the Odyssey G8 plus a new “Multi Control” feature that promises to make it easier and quicker for users to transfer text and images between the Odyssey G9 and other Samsung devices.

According to Samsung’s executive vice president of its visual display business Hoon Chung, this broadening of the brand’s approach to gaming monitors is a response to growing diversity in the gaming space.

“Samsung’s new OLED Odyssey gaming monitors will empower gamers with more immersive game environments and innovative technology that personalizes their gaming experiences — meeting and exceeding their evolving needs,” he said.
