You’ve heard of TPG for cheap internet deals, but did you know that the provider also offers mobile plans?

In late 2020 Vodafone and TPG merged, and as such TPG mobile plans operate on the Vodafone network. And right now, they’re half priced for the first 6 months.

These discounts last for the first six months before your plan reverts back to its original pricing. Since TPG plans are contract-free however, you can always change providers (and keep your phone number) when the discount is over.

Charging $15 per month for 45GB of data is quite simply excellent value. Right now the best competitor for this plan is Circles.Life which is selling 40GB for $14 for the first six months, on the Optus network. After this deal expires you’ll get 30GB for $25 instead. Here are some other plans with at least 40GB of data for comparison’s sake.

The one thing to be wary of but when it comes to TPG and most other smaller mobile providers, good prices are all you’ll get. These telcos keep costs down by offering no-frills services. Your calls, texts, and data for a low price. That is it. There are also no store-fronts or big marketing campaigns so the providers save money and can pass on lower prices because of it. TPG might not be small, but it operates its mobile branch in a similar fashion.

With every plan you’ll get your data, calls, texts, and not much else. However there is the option to add on an unlimited international calls package for $5 per month which covers 37 countries.
TPG is powered by the Vodafone 3G and 4G network which covers 96% of the Australian population. If you live, work, and play in metro areas then you shouldn’t have any issues with the Vodafone network. Take a look at whether your area is covered in the map below.
