Google's next budget phone is launching in Australia later this month.

First announced in late March 2025 minus a firm release date, the Pixel 9a is now slated to land in Australian retailers on 16 April 2025. Although there will be no pre-order period for the new handset, those looking to shop around for the best price will have plenty of options.

In addition to Google itself, the Pixel 9a will be available to buy outright in Australia through retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, and The Good Guys. The device comes in storage variants and four colours.

The cheaper 128GB version of the Pixel 9a will cost you $849. Meanwhile, the 256GB model starts at $999. Both versions of the device come with the same 6.3-inch OLED display on the outside and the Tensor G4 processor on the inside. The new mid-ranger also boasts a slimmer dual-lens rear camera that pairs up a 48MP main lens with a 13MP ultra-wide one.

The Pixel 9a will also be available on a postpaid plan through Telstra, Vodafone and Optus. We're still waiting to see which carriers will offer what models or if there will be any deals in the mix. However, if you're already sizing it up it isn't too hard to work out how much the Pixel 9a will cost on a plan.  Simply take the cost of the device (either $849 or $999) divide it by the length of the plan (either 24 or 36 months) and then add the cost of the relevant SIM-only plan in the widget below.
