There are lots of things to like about Samsung’s latest TVs, from the high-end display tech to the seamless streaming and smart home integration. That being said, one thing that most people don’t love are the ads.

Samsung isn’t the only major TV manufacturer to integrate ads into their smart TVs nowadays, but that doesn’t make their imposition any easier to live with. Fortunately, it doesn’t take too much tinkering to turn off the ads on your Samsung TV.

If you’re ready to say goodbye to ads on your Samsung TV, you’ve come to the right place. Follow the steps below and you’ll be enjoying an ad-free Samsung TV in no time.

1
Log in to your router

Log into the control panel for the router that your smart TV is connected to. The easiest way to do this is usually by loading up a web browser and navigating to 192.168.1.1.

2
Go to router URL filters

Once you’ve logged into the back-end of your router, find the options for router URL filters. Not all routers offer this functionality, but as the name suggests those that do can use it to blacklist connections based on their URL. If you're having trouble finding it, you may have to delve a little deeper into the settings menus or check the website or manual to confirm if your router supports this feature.

If you're out of luck on this front, you can still block Samsung TV ads by using a DNS provider that allows blacklisting like OpenDNS. These third-party tools essentially work the same way as a built-in URL filter and are usually free but may require a bit more work to set up.

3
Add the urls below

Either using a DNS service like OpenDNS or the url filter in your own router, add the following urls to the blocklist.

  • config.samsungads.com
  • gpm.samsungqbe.com
  • log-config.samsungacr.com
  • samsung.com
  • samsungacr.com
  • samsungads.com
  • samsungcloudsolution.com
  • samsungcloudsolution.net
  • samsungotn.net
4
Save changes

Save the changes and you should be free to stream and watch video content on your Samsung TV without ads.

One thing to keep in mind here though is that blocking the urls above won't just block ads. It will also stop your Samsung TV from downloading software updates and new apps via the Samsung app store.

If you need to do either of those things, you can follow these steps in reverse to undo the process. Then, repeat them once more to ensure your living room  remains ad-free.
