Samsung's cheapest new tablet might be its most compelling addition to the category this year.

The newly announced Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus combines an 11-inch LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, a quad-speaker Dolby Atmos setup and support for Samsung's desktop-like DeX interface. The hardware and design here might pale in comparison to the likes of the latest iPad Pro, Google Tablet or Samsung's own Galaxy Tab S9, but it's also significantly cheaper.

If you're a student or otherwise inclined towards thriftier tech, the Galaxy Tab A9 Plus is going to tick a lot of the boxes. Under the hood, the tablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 7040mAh battery and Android 13 spliced with Samsung's own One UI 5.1 skin.

The front-facing half of the Galaxy Tab A9 Plus boasts thin bezels and a 5MP camera capable of recording 1080ps video at 30FPS. The other side of the tablet boasts an 8MP camera that's not that much better, even if it does have autofocus.

According to Samsung mobile president TM Roh, everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the latest innovations in tablet technology.

“With the latest Galaxy Tab A series release, we’re making it easier than ever for all to enjoy great entertainment and productive multitasking across the entire Galaxy ecosystem," he said.

In Australia, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 Plus will be available from November in four variants with pricing starting at $379.
