The new OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro earbuds come with more hours of playback and premium features than you'd expect given the budget-friendly price.

Available in Australia this week via the OPPO Australia website, the thrifty true wireless headphones boast larger 12.4mm drivers, a pair of microphones and both IP55 dust and sweat resistance.

While the 'Granite White' colour and stemmed form factor are evocative of Apple's iconic AirPods, the Enco Buds2 Pro earbuds have just enough of their own thing going on that you're unlikely to mistake the two. Weight-wise, the true wireless earbuds clock in at around 4.3g apiece.

Beyond that, the Enco Buds2 Pro earbuds feature touch controls, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, 94ms of latency and 8 hours of playback on a single charge. That number gets halved when it comes to talk time and quadrupled (and then some) when you factor in the charger case. All told, you're looking at around 36 hours of extended playback on a full charge.

While OPPO's own Enco Master Equaliser will allow you to swap between three sound profiles as standard, pairing the Enco Buds2 Pro earbuds with one of the manufacturer's smartphones will unlock new features like Dolby Atmos playback and a Dirac audio tuner.

According to OPPO Australia managing director Michael Tran, the Enco Buds2 Pro offers a winning combination of low-end pricing and high-end features.

“Our new Enco Buds2 Pro offer a premium audio experience, stylish design, and long-lasting battery life, all at an accessible price point, which we’re proud to bring to our Australian users," he said.

While we'll have to reserve our full judgment until we've had the chance to go hands-on with the earbuds, there's a lot to like here. Even if there isn't any sort of Spatial Audio or wireless charging, $99 is a great price to pay for a set of AirPod alternatives packed with bells and whistles.

The OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro earbuds are available this week via the OPPO Australia online store at an RRP of $99.
