It might be almost a decade old, but with the arrival of a sequel, many kids (and enthusiastic parents,) are only just seeing the animated Pixar classic Inside Out for the first time. As one of those parents, I feel like I know the animated feature film Inside Out... well, inside out, by this stage. Despite having seen the movie Inside Out no less than one hundred (million) times already, one scene that still gives me a good chuckle is where Joy and Sadness visit the Hollywood-style backlot of Dream Productions (or was it DreamWorks? I can't remember.) It's by and large one of Inside Out's funniest gags and I hope the TV series can honour what was so funny about it in the first place. We'll find out when Dream Productions premieres on the 11th of December.

How to watch Dream Productions when it begins

Coming to Disney Plus in December.

In late September, Disney announced that the Inside Out spinoff series Dream Productions would premiere on the 11th of December 2024 in Australia. As an original TV series, it will be exclusive to Disney Plus. If you're into Inside Out, you're probably already subscribed but for the Inside Out curious, there's plenty to stream while you wait, inlcuding both Inside Out and Inside Out 2, and the short film that bridges both movies, Riley's First Date

Disney Plus doesn't offer a free trial but it does offer two plans at $13.99 and $17.99 per month, offering full HD and 4K streaming, respectively.

What is Dream Productions about?

Inside Out dealt with Riley's world-shaking move from Minnesota to San Francisco. Inside Out 2 dealt with Riley's growing sense of self, and the threats to that sense of self (friendships, aptitude etc.) One of the funniest parts of the first movie is without a doubt the scene where Joy and Sadness end up at Dream Productions in the hopes of waking Riley up. Without spoiling much, it turns out Riley's dreams are easily influenced, for better and worse. The Dream Productions miniseries looks to be an Office-like for the animated world, a single-camera sitcom that details the daily struggles of Dream Productions' elite.

IMDB lists the primary cast of Inside Out 2 for Dream Productions; Amy Poehler (Joy,) Phyllis Smith (Sadness,) Lewis Black (Anger,) Liza Lapira (Disgust,) Tony Hale (Fear,) and Kensington Tallman (Riley.) In a few additional mystery roles, Dream Productions will also feature Maya Rudolph (Big Mouth,) Ally Maki (Marvel's Hit Monkey) and Richard Ayoade (Krapopolis.)

Disney Plus is where you're going to find anything and everything Disney Pixar, but there's still plenty of other kids content to stream. There's so much to stream, you could put Peppa Pig on for your two-year-old and not see them again until they are sixteen years old and getting their first job at KFC in Newtown.
