Optus has buddied up Netflix to bring the massively popular streaming app to SubHub while offering Netflix Standard at no extra cost on select broadband plans.

Netflix on Optus SubHub

Over the last few years, Telstra and Vodafone have been locking down some serious content partner deals. Vodafone bagged an exclusive deal with Sony when the PlayStation 5 was first released, offering the popular console and various accessories to its customers on 36-month payment plans. Meanwhile, Telstra’s Xbox All Access deal and its ongoing partnership with Foxtel, Binge and Kayo have given customers plenty to consider when choosing their next provider. Optus, on the other hand, had Fetch, Optus Sport and not much else. Earlier this year, Optus released SubHub, a subscription management app for your growing list of streaming services and with the addition of Netflix, it's beginning to sound like a tempting offer.

How to get Netflix on an Optus NBN plan

New customers on any Optus Internet Entertainer plan who use the SubHub app will get a Netflix Standard subscription at no extra cost. Netflix Standard typically costs $16.99 per month and gets you HD streaming on two screens at once. The deal is available on both Optus NBN plans and Optus 5G Home plans.

Here’s a list of the current NBN plans from Optus. Netflix is only available on the Entertainer plans.

And here’s an example of an Optus 5G home plan that includes the Netflix deal.

What is Optus SubHub?

SubHub is a new platform from Optus that lets you bundle multiple streaming services in one place with discounts for multiple subscriptions and plenty of extended free trials. Signing up to SubHub automatically gets you access to Optus Sport (valued at $14.99 per month). Adding two additional subscriptions to your SubHub account will save you 5% off your bill on both subscriptions and adding three or more will save you 10% off every service you add. Including Optus Sport and Netflix, there are now 11 subscription services available via SubHub with Paramount+ and Fetch TV coming soon.

Not everything there is worth signing up to but even just Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BritBox and Kindle Unlimited will net you 10% off your monthly subscription costs. It’s not a bad deal really. And if you want to take any of the other services offered for a spin, there are extended free trials available via SubHub between one and six months available for every service other than Netflix (which no longer offers free trials).
