Apple has announced the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Here's when you can buy the shiny new devices.

Apple revealed the iPhone 14 in the early hours of Thursday the 8th of September 2022, announcing four new models as expected: the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

While the standard 14 and 14 Plus aren't much of a leap from last year's iPhone 13, the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max present a more significant upgrade for those looking to grab Apple's latest smartphone.  Those happy to settle for standard will be looking at forking out $1,399 minimum for the iPhone 14 in Australia

So when will the iPhone 14 be available in Australia?

The iPhone 14 is available now
  • iPhone 14: Available now
  • iPhone 14 Plus: Available from 7th of October 2022
  • iPhone 14 Pro: Available now
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max: Available now

As with every iPhone release, there are three key dates and times: the initial reveal at the Apple Event, the preorder window and the day phones officially go on sale.

This year, the iPhone 14 was officially revealed on Thursday the 8th of September 2022 (7th of September in the US).

Following the trends of previous years, the iPhone 14 became available for preorder the following day at 10:00PM (AEST) on Friday the 9th of September 2022.

After the week-long preorder window, the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max went on sale in Australia on Friday the 16th of September, 2022.

The one remaining model is the iPhone 14 Plus, which has been delayed until the 7th of October 2022.

As mentioned above, the iPhone 14 reveal and accompanying keynote– where new AirPods and Apple Watches were also announced– kicked off at the aggressively early hour of 3:00AM on the 8th of September (for Australians, at least).

There are loads of products to compare this year, including new AirPods Pro 2, Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch Series 8, a new Apple Watch SE, and all four iPhone 14 models. So should I hold off on buying an iPhone 13?

Apple has discontinued the 13 Pro but you can now get the iPhone 13 even cheaper.

This year, the iPhone 14 offers a fairly small upgrade to the iPhone 13, all things considered. But the good news is, the iPhone 13 has recieved a generous price cut in response to the iPhone 14 announcement. The new iPhone 13 pricing in Australia is as follows:

  • iPhone 13 128GB: $1,229
  • iPhone 13 256GB: $1,399
  • iPhone 13 512GB: $1,749

Those who don't mind opting for older models to save a bit of dosh should also check out the discounts on the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 12 handsets.

If you're so inclined, the iPhone 13 is also still available on a plan through Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. See how their plans stack up below.
