Catch might be going away, but its mobile business will be living on under a new name. From 1 May 2025 onward, Catch Connect will officially be rebranded as OnePass Mobile.
As per an FAQ on the Catch Connect website, this changeover will be as light-touch as possible. Current Catch Connect customers will maintain access to and recharge their existing service. Meanwhile, new customers will be able to sign up for the same range of prepaid mobile plans previously available through Catch Connect.
For now, the name of the provider is the only thing that's changing. For a snapshot of those plans, check out the widget below.
Although current Catch Connect customers are getting a new app to manage their OnePass Mobile service, they won't have to seek it out or even create a new set of account credentials.
According to the Catch Connect website, "the Catch Connect app will automatically be updated to OnePass mobile app."
Once that happens, Catch Connect customers should be able to log-in with their existing username and password.
"Just like Catch Connect, OnePass mobile will also be part of the Optus family and will offer all the things you want from a mobile plan, at an affordable price: value, speed, reliable service and no hidden fees or lock in contracts," the FAQ said.
If the name sounds familiar, that's probably because you've run into OnePass branding elsewhere. The shopping membership service sort-of like Amazon Prime but for Australian retailers like K-Mart and Bunnings Warehouse. Signing up for either a monthly or yearly One Pass membership gets you free shipping from select partners and access to exclusive deals. It also used to be one of the best ways to stream Disney Plus for free.
That promotion has since ended but if the low-key launch of an MVNO attached to brand is any indication, those company is only just getting started. For now, OnePass Mobile might just be Catch Connect by another name. However, given the popularity and success that Coles, ALDI and Woolworths have had when it comes to pairing up perks for shoppers with prepaid phone plans, it's easy to imagine how it could evolve into something more.
