Game of Thrones is getting another spin-off. Set roughly between the HBO's original fantasy hit and House of the Dragon, A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms is slated to make its debut in 2025.

An adaptation of George RR Martin's Dunk & Egg novellas (which are collected in a volume by the same name), the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will consist of six episodes and be both written and executive produced by author George RR Martin and House of the Dragon writer Ira Parker.

As for where you'll be able the find the series, fans of both GoT and HotD probably already have a pretty good idea.

We don't currently know what Australian pricing for Max will look like. In the meantime, check out the table below for a snapshot of the US pricing for the streaming service and how it compares to Binge and Foxtel.

What is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms about?

A smaller stakes take on a familiar fantasy world

While A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will see audiences return to the violent and politically-charged fantasy world of Westeros, it promises to offer a very different perspective on that setting than both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon.

Rather than follow the heirs of this or that noble house as the realm splinters and spirals into civil war, the series focuses on the exploits of a singular down-on-their-luck knight and his squire. These lead roles are filled by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell respectively. However, as you'd expect given the property involved, there are a ton of other British actors in the mix including Finn Bennett, Bertie Cavell and Sam Spruell.

The official synopsis for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is as follows:

"A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends."

Even if that smaller scope sets A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms apart from its siblings, the fact that the new series was filmed on location in Northern Ireland suggests that it'll probably look and feel very similar in tone.

The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is expected to adapt Martin's first Dunk & Egg novella, The Hedge Knight. However, at this stage, it's not quite clear how much will be expanded on or whether later episodes will see that story-line bleed into the events of the second novella, The Sworn Sword.

Info Box

When do new episodes of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms come out in Australia?

A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms does not have a firm release date beyond the window of sometime in 2025. Once it does arrive though, it's safe to assume that new episodes will become available weekly in much the same way they do with other major HBO original series like The White Lotus.

If you're returning to Westeros ahead of the latest Game of Thrones spin-off, you don't have to go too far. Both Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are available to stream through both Foxtel Now subscription and Binge. With the looming arrival of Max in Australia, that might be set to change. However, for now, Binge is the place to go if you're after live-action adaptations of George RR Martin's fantasy world.
