Charlie Brooker's dark sci-fi satire Black Mirror is on its way back to screens in 2025.
When is Black Mirror coming back?
If you think the start of 2025 has felt like a dystopia, wait until you see what's coming down the line. Later this year Charlie Brooker's critically acclaimed science fiction series is returning to screens once more to bring down the vibe and make you rethink your relationship with the tech around you.
Here's what you need to know about streaming the new season of Black Mirror in Australia.
When does the new season of Black Mirror release in Australia?
According to Netflix, the seventh season of Black Mirror will make its way to the streaming service sometime in 2025 and will consist of six episodes.
Given the series hasn't yet gotten a more firm release date, it seems to say that an impending premiere is unlikely. If Black Mirror was set to return sometime in the next three months, chances are we'd already know it for sure. Given that, it seems more plausible that the series will likely be back sometime between the middle of 2025 to the end of the year.
Where to stream Black Mirror in Australia
While it doesn't have an official release date yet, the new season of Black Mirror will be available to stream exclusively through Netflix In Australia. That's not exactly a surprise though. Netflix adopted the series back in 2016 and has been the place to stream the sci-fi satire series ever since. However, it's far from the only thing on the service nowadays.
The days of Netflix having access to the biggest hits of network television are fading as fast as the price of the world's biggest streaming service seems to be rising but there are still plenty of quality original TV series and movies to watch here including Wednesday, The Witcher, The Crown and Squid Game.
While Netflix retired its free trial offer back in 2020. However, if you're not too attached to your current internet service provider, you can get a free month if you sign up for the Optus NBN $99 Internet Family Entertainer Fast NBN plan using the widget below.

What is Black Mirror about?

An series that originally started life on the UK's Channel 4 in 2011, Black Mirror is dark anthology series that usually (but not exclusively) explores the darker side of our relationship with technology. It's a more modern incarnation of something like The Twilight Zone.
In other words (and as often put by both the series' fans and critics), Black Mirror asks what if too much technology might be bad for us. Each episode is a standalone story that takes approach to that premise, though the new season will bring with the series' first 'sequel' in the form a follow-up to Season 4's "USS Callister".
Aside from that, there's no telling what the new season of Black Mirror might bring with it. At this stage, there's no trailer or even an official synopsis for the new season. That said, one thing we do have is a cast list. Some of the faces showing up in Season 7 of Black Mirror include Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who) Emma Corrin (A Murder At The End Of The World, Deadpool & Wolverine), Paul Giamatti, Issa Rae, Rashida Jones, Chris O'Dowd and more.
How does Netflix compare?

Black Mirror is far from the only thing to watch on Netflix. What's more, the home of original series like Squid Game, Stranger Things and The Witcher is far from the only game in town when it comes to streaming services. Check out the table below for a snapshot of how Netflix compares to its competition when it comes to pricing, features and free trials.
How to stream Netflix US
The new season of Black Mirror is almost certainly going to be available on both the Australian and US version of Netflix. However, if you're interested in seeing what that version of the streaming service has to offer, there are ways to access the American library with a VPN. Not every VPN will work but we've had repeated success with NordVPN.
Note: Using a VPN to bypass geo-blocked content libraries is technically against Netflix's terms of service, so there's a small chance if you sign up to an international Netflix library from Australia that you will have your account blocked with no way of getting a refund on your first month's bill.
