Apple has officially announced Australian availability for the Apple Vision Pro mixed-reality headset. Kicking off the 2024 Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC,) Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage to introduce VisionOS 2 (its first operating system refresh) before announcing wider international availability for the controversial headset. China, Japan and Singapore make up the first wave of shipments later this month, while Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the UK will see headsets launch locally from 12 July 2024.
Pre-orders will be available from the 28th of June via the official Apple website, with units starting at $5,999 for the 256GB model, $6,349 for the 512GB model and will go all the way up to $6,669 for the 1TB model. Additional accessories will incur additional costs.
You will also need an Apple device with FaceID (iPhone or iPad) and an up-to-date version of the Apple Store App in order to pre-order the Apple Vision Pro, as the technology used for facial recognition helps Apple tailor the size of the headband and the cushioned light seal for your particular head shape and size.
