Nothing is putting its money where its mouth is when it comes to fan service, announcing a new 'Community Edition' of the Nothing Phone 2a Plus with a glow-in-the-dark design. Trend-setting aesthetics have always been a core part of Nothing's brand and that's very much the case with this device.

The Nothing Phone 2a Plus Community Edition features a revised design that incorporates a phosphorescent material that charges during the day and softly glows through the night. That quality also extends to the packaging of the device, which comes preloaded with a slick set of six bespoke wallpapers.

These inclusions come following a contest that Nothing held challenging its community to design the smartphone they wanted to see next from the company. Over the course of six months, the company said it collected over a thousand entries from 47 countries.

"Spanning hardware, wallpapers, packaging and marketing, winners at each stage got the chance to engage directly with the Nothing Team as they brought their creations to life," the company said.

For all that fanfare (and the nifty new look), the specs, bells and whistles here are more-or-less synonymous with the standard Nothing Phone 2a Plus released earlier this year. There's a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate plus a 50MP selfie camera on the front. Under the hood, you're looking at a MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G processor, 12GB of RAM, a 5000mA battery and 256GB of storage.

Meanwhile, the back of the device is where you'll find the trio of LED lights that make up the Nothing Phone 2a Plus' take on the Glyph Interface. It comes accompanied by a 50MP dual-lens camera that pairs up a wide (f/1.9) and ultrawide (f/2.2) lens.

Last but not least, there's the matter of how Nothing are selling the handset.

The Community Edition of the Nothing Phone 2a Plus will be available exclusively through Nothing's website from 12 November 2024 in extremely limited quantities at a price of US $399.

The company claims that just 1000 units are being manufactured so if you're keen, be sure to visit the Nothing website and register your interest sooner rather than later.
