Ecovacs' showcase at CES 2025 offered a sneak peek of what Australian consumers can expect from the brand in the months ahead.

The most noteworthy detail here is the debut of the new OZMO Roller mopping system. Found on the new Deebot X8 Pro Omni, which was unveiled at IFA, this inclusion promises to offer a more consistent mopping experience by passing a cylindrical mop through a scraper that removes dirt and then rinsing itself as it mops rather than afterwards. Essentially, the idea here is that the mop on the machine remains fresh throughout its cleaning cycle rather than gradually picking up gunk as it goes.

Part of what’s interesting here is that it’s a byproduct of a collaboration with Ecovacs’ sister brand Tineco. Ecovacs are incorporating and building on tech introduced by the last few generations of floor washers by the brand. According to Ecovacs CEO David Qian, the debut of the OZMO ROLLER sets a new standard for the rest of the robovac industry.

“It not only delivers superior cleaning performance with its Instant Self-Washing Mopping technology but also represents a milestone in the evolution of robotic floor care,” he said.

While the overhauled mopping system is the headliner here, it’s far from the only bell and whistle in the mix. The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni also boasts Ecovacs’ TruEdge 2.0 adaptive cleaning, ZeroTangle 2.0, AIVI 3.0 mapping, Instant Re-Mop, a YIKO-GPT assistant and a more compact OMNI Station.

If you’re more into the numbers than nouns, the main ones you’ll want to know here are that this robovac offers 18000pA of suction and 4000 Pa of mopping pressure. Then, on the inside, the the Deebox X8 Pro is packing a 3L dust-bag and runs on a 6400mAh battery.

The Ecovacs Deebot X8 Pro Omni doesn’t have an Australian price-tag just yet, but expect to hear more about it closer to launch later in the year.
