Where to watch South Park in Australia

South Park is one of the most interesting shows still being made today. Nestled between fart jokes is a mirror of society, made week-to-week by a sharp, switched on team. 27 seasons on, and it is still relevant and hugely popular, made even more so by its continued controversies.

The most recent one is probably why you're searching for where to watch South Park. Just before season 27 kicked off, the show disappeared from the internet. While Paramount Global and Skydance were preparing for a merger, South Park got caught in a streaming rights battle. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone were entertaining offers from Warner Brothers and Netflix for the streaming rights to the show, but reportedly Paramount kept interfering.

There is more to it of course. All this came just after The Late Show was cancelled after Stephen Colbert criticised CBS for settling a lawsuit with Donald Trump. Allegedly the show cancellation played a part in the FCC approval for the Paramount and Skydance merger. Ultimately Paramount and Trump were seen to be sending a message - you speak against us, you're out.

Now, if there is one thing you don't want to do, it is challenge the South Park team. The creators launched legal action, and took to social media to condemn the merger and the delays it brought.

"This merger is a [bleep]show and it’s [bleep]ing up South Park. We are at the studio working on new episodes and we hope the fans get to see them somehow,” a tweet posted to South Park’s official X profile reads. They didn't say bleep, but we're a PG site.

After a two week delay to the start of the season, South Park and Paramount buried the hatchet, so to speak, landing on a five year, 10-eps per season deal, and $1.5billion to Parker and Stone. The first ep in the five year deal? A scathing 21 minutes taking on Paramount, CBS, and Trump himself. 

After much ado, South Park has found its home on Paramount Plus in Australia. All 26 full seasons are streaming on the service, and season 27 episodes are landing as they are released.

Even with all the hubbub, the show will continue streaming on Paramount Plus until the five year deal ends in 2030. Unless the powers that be have anything to say about it.
