Google's fourth-stab at a premium smartwatch promises to fix the biggest flaw that's dogged its predecessors.

Announced alongside the Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the Pixel Watch 4 does promise to go beyond where its previous Google smartwatches have stopped short when it comes to repairability.  In addition to Gorilla Glass 5 and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, Google's next smartwatch has been built to be broken with support for a replaceable screen and battery.

Even if the overall design here isn't a huge departure from previous Pixel Watches, the form-factor of the Pixel Watch 4 is built around an upgraded AMOLED LTPO display with smaller bezels and up to 3000 nits of brightness.

Then, on the inside, there's a new haptics engine, an upgraded speaker and dual-chip architecture that offers better performance and lower power consumption.

The most obvious upside of these changes is better battery life. Those wearing the slimmer 41mm model can expect around 30 hours on a single charge while those on the 45mm version of the Pixel Watch 4 should expect an extra ten on top of that for a total of 40 hours on a single charge.

Looking past these these changes, the Pixel Watch 4 features all the same sensors as its predecessor. That familiar feature-set is buoyed by more accurate sleep tracking, a dual-frequency GPS, Emergency Satellite SOS connectivity and improved skin temperature tracking. The software side of the equation has also gotten a slight tune-up.

The Pixel Watch 4 is powered the latest version of Wear OS and with Google's new Material Expressive UI. Adding to the usual roster of over 40 different excercise modes, there's a new Gemini-powered coach on the wearable and a redesigned Fitbit app you can pair with it when you want to go further. Other additions include the ability to stream bike tracking data to your phone, AI-powered activity recognition, LLM-enhanced smart replies and the ability to access Gemini directly from the smartwatch rather than via your smartphone.

In Australia, the Google Pixel Watch 4 starts at $579 and will launch on 4 October 2025.
