Oclean proves that water flossers don't need to be big to deliver on the promise of food-free teeth.

The Oclean AirPump A10 Water Flosser is a simple device, so I’ll keep this review brief.

It works. In fact, it works well. The AirPump A10 gets in between your teeth with power and precision, and that’s about as much as I’d ask a water flosser to do. The question to answer is, how much should you pay for squeaky clean teeth?

At $230 RRP, the Oclean AirPump A10 water flosser seems expensive, though you might be surprised to learn that this is in the ballpark for top-tier flossing devices like this. Competing brands like Waterpik have water-flossing products over $200. Of course, you can buy devices that serve a similar purpose for well under $100 too.

The design of the AirPump A10 is quite impressive. Most water-flossers are quite tall and large, mostly to accommodate the size of the water tanks inside them. The AirPump A10 sidesteps this issue with a much smaller water tank. This may sound like a drawback, but I’ve found that the AirPump A10 holds the perfect amount of water for a single, thorough cleaning. And personally, I’d prefer to fill a water-flosser with fresh water before each use anyway.

Using the AirPump A10 is as simple as pressing a button on the side of the unit. Press and hold for a moment and the AirPump A10 kicks into ‘Standard’ mode. Press again for ‘Gentle’ mode and a third time for ‘Massage mode’. Press and hold a second time and you’ll turn the flosser off.

Simplicity like this is welcome in all of our tools and gadgets, and I’m glad there isn’t more to consider here: no touchscreens, no LED lights, no fuss. My only feedback is that I wish ‘Gentle’ mode came before ‘Standard’ mode as the latter has a real kick to it and it’d be nice to choose when to step up from gentle to powerful rather than the other way around.

Oclean describe the function of the AirPump A10 as a unique combination of both pressurised air and water, which diffuses the impact of the water on your gums, and oxygenates the water to form small bubbles to assist with the cleaning. I’ll have to take their word for it because I can’t say that I experienced any fizzing sensations while flossing.

Is the Oclean AirPump A10 worth buying?

If you’re in the market for a high-performance water flosser, than the AirPump A10 is the one to beat. That Oclean has managed to shrink the form factor of standard water flossers while delivering a powerful experience is impressive.

I’d agree if you thought the $230 asking price is steep and I’d recommend you keep an eye out for sale times — it was recently on sale for $149 and I’d expect to see a similar price again in the future.
