LG is upping the ante when it comes to convergent consumer tech, showing off a lamp with a built-in speaker and projector at this year’s CES.

The new CineBeam PF600U looks almost like a street light for your living room. The conical head of the unit is engineered to let illuminate interior environments to your liking with nine colors and five different brightness settings.

As mentioned, the PF600U also features a set of stereo speakers with passive radiators. These aren’t likely to compete with sound gear taht's more dedicated or substantial but it does promise to complement the built-in projector.

Making use of the 110-degrees of tilt and auto screen adjustment feature, the PF600U is able to offer a FHD viewing experience as if it was an LG Smart TV. The interface is even powered by the same WebOS operating system, allowing for easy integration of your various streaming services.

The bad news is that you’re only looking at around 300 lumens of brightness. If you want to make your home cinema setup a little more high-end, you’ll want to take a look at the LG PU615U instead. This short-throw project features a more conventional form-factor, but it does offer up to 500 lumens and 4K resolution.

Of course, the other devil in the details here is that this one seems unlikely to make it to Australia anytime.

According to LG, “there are currently no plans to introduce this product to Australia and New Zealand.”

For another cutting-edge lighting device from CES 2025, check out the Lamp Bot Mimo, a robotic lamp that combines practical lighting with smart home functionality.
