Binge recommends using either the Chromecast Ultra, the latest third-gen devices, or Android TVs that have similar streaming capabilities. The first-generation Chromecast isn’t supported.

  6. Alternatively, you can minimise the app and use your phone or tablet while casting continues

Chromecast troubleshooting

Having trouble casting? Here’s what Binge recommends to rectify Chromecast issues.

  • Confirm that the Chromecast is properly connected to a power supply and HDMI port
  • Disconnect the Chromecast power then reconnect it to reset
  • Sign out from the Binge app (or via your browser), then sign in again
  • Reset your wireless device by powering it off then back on again

Binge also advises that the best Chromecast results come from an internet connection of at least 5Mbps download. Check out our comprehensive guide for more Binge troubleshooting solutions.

AirPlay configuration

If you use an Apple TV to AirPlay content rather than Google Chromecast, ensure you’ve got these boxes checked before trying to watch Binge content:

  • An Apple mobile or tablet with iOS 12 (or later)
  • A fourth-generation Apple TV (or higher) is recommended
  • A strong WiFi connection
  • A TV with an HDCP 1.4-compliant HDMI port
  • An HDMI cable with HDCP1.4 (minimum)

How to AirPlay Binge content

These are the basic steps for playing Binge content on an Apple TV device via your iOS phone or tablet:

  1. Connect your Apple TV to your TV with an HDMI cable
  2. Sign in and ensure your iOS mobile or tablet is connected to the same WiFi network as your Apple TV

  4. You can now control playback via your iOS device
  5. To stop watching via AirPlay, tap the AirPlay icon and choose ‘Stop casting’
