Apple TV will get a tiny update in 2026 that makes it look and feel more like iOS 26. At WWDC Apple announced minor changes to the operating system, with the Liquid Glass design switchup being the most notable.
Liquid Glass is Apple's new, transluscent look which will flow across the manufacturer's whole range. Based on visionOS the design concentrates on making foreground naviation elements blend with the background, using a raised, bubble-like look instead of the solid colour ones we are used to. For tvOS elements like the progress bar, and control panel will appear mostly clear, blending with the imagery behind them. These same design features will appear in the Apple TV app too.
On top of the redesign, FaceTime on tvOS will look more consistent with the user experience on iOS, and Live Captions will now be available in more languages. French, FGerman, Japanese, Jorean, Mandarin, and Spanish will now be supported provided on-device intelligence is enabled on the Apple TV.
Other updates include putting viewer profiles at the forefront of the app, enabling iPhones as microphones in the Sing app, and a bunch of new screen savers.
These will come as part of tvOS 26, which will be fully available in 2026. Access is available now through the developer beta, with a public beta coming in July.
