Over 60% of Americans want to spend less time on social media in 2025, according to a recent Reviews.org survey. If you’re one of them, we can help you be a new you in the new year.

We’re offering $3,000 to one person to sign out of all their social media platforms for 30 days. Yes, that’s all social media in its various forms—Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, and even LinkedIn.

Instead, for 30 days, you can spend your screen time in healthier ways, like watching movies with your family or taking cake-baking classes on Coursera. Or, if you want to be really bold, you can log off altogether and enjoy the sights and sounds of the offline world. And at the end of the challenge, you’ll be $3,000 richer. What’s not to like?

Why are we doing this?

At Reviews.org, we’re all about keeping you connected with the best home internet and mobile options. But we also know from experts and our own experience that too much screen time can be overwhelming, and we think the world would be better if we can help even one person form better digital habits.

Here are some relevant statistics about social media use that we recently learned from a proprietary survey:

  • 37% of Americans struggle to cut back on social media use.
  • 59% say they’d feel relieved with less exposure to social media.
  • 24% often feel stressed or anxious due to social media content.
  • Time management (36%) and mental health (28%) are top reasons people want to reduce social media usage.

For those Americans who said they want to cut back on social media in 2025, here are the top reasons they gave:

  • Time management: 36.9%
  • Mental health: 27.72%
  • Privacy concerns: 11.16%
  • Distrust of social media platforms: 10.52%
  • Relationships: 9.67%
  • Physical health: 4.54%

What’s the challenge?

Our Sign Out of Social Challenger must abstain from social media for 30 days. The challenger will log out of everything and delete any apps from their smartphone that might make them break their fast. (Social media use for your job is an exception.)

To make your social media fast a little easier, here are some alternative apps you could try instead:

  • Reading apps like Kindle, Goodreads, Libby, or Hoopla
Puzzles and brain teaser apps like Tetris, Nonograms Katana, Trivia Crack, or Geoguesser
  • Learning apps like Duolingo, Coursera, Udemy, or Khan Academy
  • Exercise apps like Apple Fitness, Peloton, Fantasy Hike, or The Conqueror
  • Journaling apps like Apple Journal, Day One, Diarium, or EpicTopia

What do you get?

The chosen challenger earns $3,000 USD—and reaps the benefits of a social media cleanse!
