Sennheiser teases 60-hour battery life with Momentum Wireless 4

Audio manufacturer Sennheiser has revealed a few key details about its upcoming over-ear headphones, the Momentum 4 Wireless, via its newsroom.

Though brief, the announcement makes some bold claims, such as a 60-hour battery life for the highly anticipated headphones. The Momentum 4 Wireless could last over twice as long as some of its biggest competitors in the space if true.

Even with the impressive on-paper specs that Sennheiser touts on its blog, the most immediately attractive feature is the stylish redesign of the Momentum Wireless 4. Sennheiser’s Momentum 3 Wireless was a fine set of headphones but its mechanical design looks dated next to more recent releases.

Sennheiser seems to be taking design cues from its in-ear predecessor, the Momentum True Wireless series for the Momentum 4. From the images we’ve seen, it’s clear that Sennheiser is bringing the iconic textured fabric and brushed steel look of its True Wireless earbuds to its over-ear range.

Sennheiser is making some big claims with the Momentum Wireless 4, most notably its 60-hour battery life. Its biggest competitors in the space (Sony WH-1000XM4 and AirPods Max) don’t last even half as long. We’ll reserve judgment until we get our hands on these cans but 60 hours is, frankly, an absurd run for any wireless headset.

In addition to the potentially unrivalled battery life, Sennheiser is promising advanced adaptive ANC (active noise cancelling), advanced voice pick-up for clearer calls, 42mm drivers and longer-lasting comfort with redesigned synthetic-leather earpads.

We don’t know how much the Momentum Wireless 4 over-ear headphones will cost in Australia but we do know that Sennheiser plans to release them in August 2022. No doubt we’ll hear (and see) a lot more from Sennheiser between now and then but if you’re someone constantly searching for your charging cable, we’d recommend waiting to see what price Sennheiser slaps on these cans.
