The cheapest of Australia's big three mobile providers has raised its prices, with Vodafone's SIM only plans getting more expensive in July.

If there's any silver lining, it's that customers who signed up from late December won't be affected.  That's good news if you're looking to keep your costs down and, given the double data deals that the provider has been running over the past six months, it might not necessarily mean missing out on the larger data allowances now attached to the provider's SIM only mobile plans.

For a snapshot of how the price of Vodafone's SIM only mobile plans are changing, check out the table below.

Plan
Old Pricing
New Pricing
Small$49 with 50GB$53 with 60GB
Medium$59 with 180GB$63 with 200GB
Large$69 with 360GB$73 with 400GB

All told, each Vodafone plan is going up in price by $4 per month. The cheapest of the three is gaining an extra 10GB of data, while the others are adding 20GB and 40GB respectively. At the time of writing, that change means that Vodafone isn't just beating the its rivals out when it comes to affordability but also the amount of data you're getting per month.

Despite now being more expensive, Vodafone remains the cheapest of Australia's big three carriers. You can see how it compares to Telstra and Optus' cheapest SIM only plans in the widget below.

Of course, if you are put off by this price hike and in the market for a new mobile plan, you've got plenty of options when it comes to providers that use the Vodafone network. You might miss out on a few of the better perks attached to Vodafone, such as $5 roaming and excess-charge free data, but that trade-off might be worth the amount of money saved.
