If you're looking for the cheapest possible plans then chances are you're going to find Vodafone at the top of that list. But, Vodafone isn't stocking the latest Pixel, so the cheapest Pixel 8a is available from Optus.
Optus' cheapest Pixel 8a (128GB) plan is over a 36-month period, with it's $49 SIM plan. Ordinarly this would bring the monthly cost down to around $72.58/mth with 10GB of data, but the telco has a crazy deal. If you stay connected with Optus for the duration of the plan, you'll get $424 off your new Pixel 8a. This brings the monthly cost down to $60.78/mth.
Telstra on the other hand is much more expensive coming in at $85.58/mth for 50GB of data on its Basic plan,.

If you've searched for the cheapest phone plan for any handset in Australia in the last ten years, it's more than likely you've been served up a Vodafone plan. And it's no different when it comes to the Pixel 8. Vodafone's Small Plan will net you a lot of data, unlimited calls and text, plus a big 50GB bonus.
Optus is next up with its 30GB plan, and Telstra costs a lot more, over $90 per month in this case. So you've got to be really desperate for that primo Telstra 5G coverage this year.

There's no way around it; Google phones are getting mroe expensive across the board. The Pixel 7a launched at $749 last year and this year's model is up to $849. We saw the same trend with Google's Pixel 8 and 8 Pro in 2023.
They still don't compare to the astronomical pricing of the iPhone 15, but they are pricier than they've ever been before. Whether you're going for the standard Pixel 8 or the premium Pixel 8 Pro, you can expect to pay more this year.

- Google Pixel 8 Pro: from $1,699
Google Pixel 8 vs Pixel 8 Pro vs Pixel 7a
It was just a matter of time before Google upped the launch price on its flagship smartphones. Considering how quickly (and heavily) the Pixel 7 was discounted after the release of the Pixel 7a, the company has made it clear that only the most loyal fans should pay full price for a brand-new Pixel smartphone. That's not to say there aren't a few reasons to upgrade, just that Google has officially fallen into line with Apple, offering an iterative upgrade to last year's model. Except this year, the iteration costs you a lot more.
Here's a complete breakdown of the major differences between the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7a.
