What do you get with Coles Mobile plans?

Coles Mobile plan speeds

All Coles Mobile plans are offered on the Optus 4G mobile network, so don’t sign up for a plan if you’re after Optus 5G speeds. What you can expect is download speeds of up to 100Mbps in best-case scenarios. According to Opensignal data, expect average download speeds around 57.5Mbps and upload speeds of roughly 7.9Mbps.

Coles Mobile plan data

Coles Mobile’s two SIM-only plans have enough gigabytes for big-data users, which means comfortably more than 30GB of data per month. The 28-day prepaid plans are more targeted at everyday users, with comparatively lower data counts. Similarly, the Coles Mobile long-expiry prepaid plans are also geared towards those who only need between 10GB and 20GB per month.

Coles Mobile plan international calls

All Coles Mobile plans come with an international call allowance. For Coles Mobile prepaid users, that’s unlimited standard calls to 15 selected dialling destinations: Canada, mainland China, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America.

SIM-only customers get unlimited standard international talk and text to 22 selected dialling destinations, which includes those listed above, plus Bangladesh, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Spain, Sweden and Vietnam.

Coles Mobile plan features

Coles Mobile isn’t massive on perks, but there are some inclusions worth flagging, like the lack of contracts and upfront fees. We’ve already outlined the international call and text inclusions above, but Coles Mobile customers can also purchase an international roaming extras pack when travelling overseas.

While Coles Mobile doesn’t yet support eSIM—a digital replacement for physical SIM cards—the telco does offer WiFi calling for customers with compatible phones. It’s also great to see data rollover: 50GB for prepaid users and up to 500GB for Coles Mobile SIM-only customers.

Coles Mobile plan phones

You won’t find phones on the Coles Mobile website, but there are handsets available via Coles supermarkets. Fair warning: Coles sells several mobile phones, some of which are locked to the Telstra network. You’ll want a prepaid mobile phone that’s locked to the Optus network if you want to pair it with a Coles Mobile plan.

At the time of writing, there were several handset options locked to the Optus network:

  • Optus X Lite 4G
  • Optus X Start 2
  • Optus X Delight
  • Optus X Tap
  • Optus X Pro
  • Optus Realme C21
  • Optus Oppo A16s
