Dyson has been selling robot vacuum cleaners since 2016, but none of them have made it to the Australian market. This changes with the 360 Vis Nav, Dyson's third-generation robot vacuum. Not only is it actually coming to Australia, Australia will be the first country to get it.

The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is pitched as a robot vacuum cleaner that addresses the typical pain points with robot vacuum cleaners.

"A robot vacuum cleaner should not be a novelty," said Dyson Chief Engineer, Jake Dyson.

"We know there are many frustrations with current robot vacuum cleaners – some have low suction power, or inefficient navigation systems which means that they often get stuck and don’t do a proper job of vacuuming. Dyson engineers have focused on developing machines that overcome these challenges and which increasingly anticipate our needs, understand its environment and operate autonomously."

To that end, Dyson focused on set key features including cleaning power, corner cleaning, autonomy, and connectivity.

Dyson says the 360 Vis Nav is the most powerful robot vacuum on the market, with six times the suction of any other. This is combined with a burhs bar that combines fluffy nylon, anti-static carbon filaments, and stiff nylon to help the robot suck up any kind of debris on any surface.

Rather than using a more traditional circular shape, the 360 Vis Nav has a D design that lets it nestle into corners. When combined with a side-facing actuator, Dyson says the 360 Vis Nav is able to clean in situations that other robot vacs can't.

The 360 Vis Nav has 26 sensors on it that should hopefully prevent it from getting stuck - "if you need to rescue your robot, you're wasting time".

Lastly, Dyson says it put as much effort into building the 360 Vis Nav's companion app as it did the robot vac. The app allows for in-depth scheduling, to the point where the 360 Vis Nav can be setup to clean certain rooms on certain days. One key unique feature is the MyDyson app will create dust maps as the 360 Vis Nav cleans to show dust hot spots in your home, as well as provide evidence of a deep clean.

The 360 Vis Nav's battery will last for up to 50 minutes while cleaning on auto, but this drops to as little as 13 minutes when doing a deep clean. It will take the robot around 1.5 hours for a full charge, but if it runs out of battery while vacuuming, it's smart enough to juice itself up for long enough to finish the clean before retiring for a longer charge.

Unlike other recently released robot vacuums from brands like Ecovacs and Eufy, Dyson hasn't kitted out the 360 Vis Nav with any mopping functionality, saying it wanted to focus on getting vacuuming right.

The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is available to order from today, priced at $2,399, ahead of a May 25 release date.
