Big W stick vacuum recalled as fire hazard

The ACCC recommends users of the Big W Contempo Handstick Vacuum to cease use immediately amidst incidents of property damage.

According to a recall notice, components on the budget stick vacuum’s circuit board may reportedly overheat and catch fire if an incorrect charger is used, or if the vacuum short circuits. Product Safety states that property has already been damaged from incidents related to this recall.

Devices were sold between March 15th 2022 and October 11th 2023, in store, through the Big W website, Woolworths website, and My Deal. Affected devices have the following identifiers;

Batch codes ending in: /2021 and /2022 or batch code 010223

Everyone with affected devices are eligible to return the vacuum to Big W for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required, simply present the product, or if physically returning the product isn't possible, contact Big W on 1300 244 999.
