Telstra's reputation for premium pricing is a well-earned one, but the Big T is looking to push back on that perception with its new "Internet Only" plans.
As the naming suggests, these NBN plans strip back on the perks, bells and whistles that Telstra's Upfront NBN plans include in favor of more affordable pricing.
Telstra's Internet Only plans do still come with the ability to earn Telstra Points, but that's about it. Unlike the provider's other NBN plans, there's no included Smart Modem with 4G/5G fallback or even a home phone line.
Those sacrifices aren't for naught though, with most of Telstra's new Internet Only plans sitting between $10 and $14 below their Upfront counterparts. A full breakdown of how the two compare can be seen in the table below.
According to Telstra Customer Executive Tom Beach, Internet Only plans are meant to offer "simple internet" without any fancy features.
It’s important to note that they do not include a home phone line, which we know some people rely on. That means features like Priority Assist are not available on these plans," he said.
For that reason, Beach recommended those who rely on landline services for medical or security needs opt for the company's Upfront Internet plans instead.
"It’s always best to review your needs and chat to one of our friendly staff to understand what’s right for your situation," he said.
Lining up with launch of the new plans, Telstra is also currently offering a sizable 50% discount for the first three months. That deal expires on 1 December 2025, but it brings the price of the cheapest Telstra Internet Only NBN 25 plan down from $85 to $42 for the first three months.

For those who want a little more speed, the Telstra Internet Only NBN 50 plan is discounted down from $95 per month to $47 per month for the first three months.

If that's not enough for you in terms of speed, Telstra's NBN 500 take on its Internet Only plans has gotten a similar subtraction in price. Those who sign up before 1 December 2025 can get this plan for $49 per month for the first three months. After that, the price rises to the usual $99.

That isn't the only Internet Only plan that takes advantage of the new NBN speed tiers introduced in September. There's also the Internet Only NBN 750 plan, which can be had for $59 per month for the first three months rather than the usual $119 if you sign up before December.

Last but not least, there's the fastest Internet Only plan on the roster. This plan offers NBN 1000 speeds and those who sign up before the deadline will pay $64 per month for the first three months rather than the usual $129.
