With over 50 live sports to choose from, Kayo is no doubt the premiere destination for streaming sports in Australia. That amount of coverage was always going to come at a price, but over the last few years, Kayo has gone through a number of (sometimes confusing) price changes. Thankfully, the latest price hike is pretty straightforward: from 3 June 2025, Kayo Standard will cost an additional $5, going from $25 to $30 per month. The 4K option, Kayo Premium, will remain at $40 per month.
In the context of Kayo, a premium sports streaming destination, an extra $5 per month might not seem too unfathomable. But most streaming services tend to increase their prices in much smaller increments, between $1 and $3 extra per month. An extra $5 per month is a 20% increase, and an additional $60 per year for Kayo Standard subscribers.
Last year, Kayo Sports rejigged its plans in the most confusing way possible. When it finally decided to add 4K streaming, it didn't just add it to the existing Premium plan, which offered streaming on three devices, it removed the "Premium" plan entirely, adding 4K to the "Basic" plan and increasing the price from $30 to $35 per month in the process. This resulted in a weird arrangement, where the Basic plan was now technically the Premium plan.
Kayo Basic eventually became Kayo Premium, but that came with yet another price hike (from $35 to $40 per month). Now, Kayo Standard, which used to be Kayo One, is going up from $25 per month to $30 per month, making it the first price rise in the portfolio since global sports streamer DAZN acquired Foxtel.
So what are your options? Either stomach the extra $5 per month, or hunt down a deal on Kayo.
Updated pricing for Kayo Standard customers will come into effect from the 3rd of June 2025.
