Is it possible not to love Bluey? I can’t see how it’s even vaguely feasible, because while the global sensation that is Bluey is ostensibly aimed at preschoolers, it’s just so charming, so well made and so applicable to every walk of life that it just simply has appeal to everyone. While overseas viewers have to tangle with a variety of different official streaming sources, Bluey’s status as an Australian-made icon makes it incredibly simple to get your Bluey fix in – or if you do have preschoolers, get your Bluey fix in over and over and over again.

Bluey is produced for the ABC, so it’s no surprise that every episode is available to watch on ABC iView. If you’re feeling the pinch of the cost of living crisis, the good news here is that ABC iView is free to view for Australians – once you’ve got your NBN connection or mobile connection sorted, that is. Internationally the rights are a tad more complex, largely Disney+ in most locations, though it’s on BBC iPlayer in the UK due to its co-production status with the BBC.

All out of Bluey?

If you've seen all 150+ episodes of Bluey multiple times over, you're probably praying for a fourth season. While you wait, there are a few other officially sanctioned Bluey shows you can fill the time with.

Firstly, there are the Bluey Minisodes. These snackable shorts run between one and three minutes long and are all available on ABC iView with episodes also available via the ABC Kids YouTube channel.

Next, there's a filmed version of Bluey's Big Play, a live stage show featuring the original voice cast and some impressive life-sized puppetry. That's also on ABC iView and will give you about 45 minutes to cook dinner.

Lastly, there's Bluey Book Reads. Available on the official Bluey website, Bluey Book Reads features various celebrities reading the book versions of popular episodes, such as Rose Byrne's reading of Baby Race.

When does Bluey release in Australia?

So far, there have been three seasons of Bluey comprising 151 episodes running seven minutes each – it’s perfect bite-sized TV for the youngsters, but also a length that makes it great for parents to watch along too. All three seasons sit on ABC iView, and while there’s no official announcement of a season four, there is a special extra-long episode, “The Sign,” that released in 2024.

Will Bluey get a fourth season?

When creator Joe Brumm announced in December 2024 that he would be stepping away from the series, fans were obviously concerned about the show's future. But Brumm's bittersweet farewell, published on the official Bluey website, wasn't all sad news. Brumm confirmed that he would be working on the feature-length Bluey movie, which is set to release in cinemas in 2027 (and ABC iview after that) and that the series would likely continue without him.

The short answer? Yes, Bluey will almost certainly get a fourth season but when it will be released is still a mystery.

What is Bluey about?

Bluey is an animated family show centred around the adventures and imagination of Bluey, a six year old Blue Heeler puppy, her younger sister Bingo, her Mum Chilli and Dad Bandit. The family live in Brisbane and are joined by a diverse cast of other characters, including Bluey’s friends, neighbours and relatives as they have fun and learn. The show has been widely praised for its realistic depiction of modern families and focus on supportive parenting practices and positive lessons for children, but also for the incredibly adept way that it balances that mission without being notably preachy or lacking in sheer entertainment value.

Of course, if you have a preschooler or know one, you probably don’t need to be told that, as you’ve no doubt watched more than a little Bluey by now.

No, not in Australia. Disney Plus is how the the rest of the world watches Bluey. As outlined above, Bluey is available exclusively on ABC iView here in Australia.

No. Although creator Joe Brumm claims to have penned his final episode, "The Sign," in 2024, he also confirmed he'd completed the story for the upcoming movie (scheduled for 2027.) The extra-long special The Sign seemed to some like a series finale but ABC was quick to confirm that it had "no plans to end the show" in April 2024. With or without Brumm, it seems Bluey will live on in one form or another, including the recently released recorded stage show, Bluey's Big Play

How does iView compare to other streaming services?

iView is the official streaming platform of the ABC, with a strong (but not exclusive) focus on locally produced ABC content, as well as a choice of imported programming that fits the ABC charter and, largely, its audience. It’s a free service within Australia (though a login/signup is now required) and best compared to the other catch-up services such as SBS on Demand, 7Plus, 9Now and 10Play.

The ABC was quite quick to get on the ball with iView, and this does give it the strength of being available across a lot of platforms, including browsers, smartphones, tablets, select gaming console platforms and many smart TVs. As one of the ABC’s biggest hits, it’s certainly not hard to find Bluey episodes to watch on ABC iView.
